Maybe they're waiting to see how much 'factory support' they will get from Mercedes.

For example, the base price for SLK55 is Euro 55,150... thats over $66,000. A fully loaded SLK55 in Euro is around 65,000... thats around $78,000... around the base price of the E55.

They should price it similar to the C32... Anything over 60k you mine as well drop the soap... 55k would be a good price.

55 will be the cost, 60+ will be markup,

Just like the Evo and others..

For that money you can get a used c32 and do a stage II plus some high cost wheels..

LOL. That's kind of what I just did for my wife. I just got back to the Bay Area after picking up my wife's C32 from Evosport. Long drive.... 7 hours b/c of an accident in the Grapevine... usually takes me 4 hours 20 minutes. Anyway, 7500 mile 2003 C32 and the rest was spent on Evo I and II (minus headers), H&R coilovers, Bi-xenons, painted side markers and SSR GT3s with SO3s. It all came out to around $53K. I thought it was a bargain for what is basically a brand new 410 hp/ 400 lb/ft torque C32 . The thing was a blast to drive home. Not quite as strong as my SCed V8 CLK, particularly from 110 up, but alot faster than I expected... and maybe a little too fast for the wife.

As always, the guys at Evosport were great and really did a beautiful job on my wife's car.

Hey, I just walked in after getting up at 7, getting on a plane, hanging out at EvoSport, having 2 other business meetings in Orange County and spending 7 hours on a drive that shold have taken no more than 4.5 hours. Plus, the front end of the car is splattered with bugs. I'm getting up early to wash the car for my wife. I'll take a pic.

That's good news, do you think we are hating on the new W203
We just thinks its going to be a price gouge.

If you belive the AMG Guy on that price, go to a dealer and try to pick one up when they arrive, they will laff you off the lot..

I bet its around 60K
edit, my question is
If you are compairing the C55 with a C32 what is you experience with the C32?

I'm definitely not hating on the C55. If the C was for me I'd get the 55 and put a Kleemann on it. But since it was for the wife, I thought I was better off getting her the C32 and spending the savings on tricking it out. anyway, here's her C32 w/ 18" SSR GT3s, H&R coilovers, Evo I&II (minus headers), Bi-xenons and painted side markers. She woke up and saw it this morning and was thrilled:

Are the engine mods you talk of in your post (Evo I&II, Kleemann for the C55) CA emissions legal?

Evo II is for C32 and legal, As long as you don't mess the cats you should be fine.

Kleemann on C55 has never been done in CA yet, but should be fine.

Hating??? im not ghetto or a hater or whatever you call it and i didnt say you are either....i just meant that i was able to drive a few before they even went on sale, that's all.

As for the AMG guy.....he's an AMG guy, not a dealer. And a reputable dealer wont sell for more than MSRP unless you are shopping for an SLR. There are plenty of reputable dealers out there, one who even sold me my SL55 at MSRP or offering me an SL65 at MSRP. Hating?!?!?!....LMAO.

Never said you were hating, or ghetto???.

It seemed you were sorry to break some news to us, and I was wondering sorry for what?

When the C55 hits it's going to be a case of supply and demand, and unless your dealer is a family member, ppl are going to get raped.

SL55 owners..sheeshh

Being able to pass the dyno test is one thing, but as they are modifications to emissions-related components (supercharger, intake, etc.), they need to be CARB-certified to be legal in California. My question, more specifically, is, are these components (particularly the Kleemann blower) CARB certified?
