largest tire on stock wheels?

Hi,

What's the largest tire I can fit on the stock wheels in the back? I believe stock is a 245/40-17 on a 17x8.5. Will a 275/40-17 clear? I have stock suspension on my 03.

Thanks,
Alex

here is what i have tried

245/45/17 Front
255/40/17 Rear

The front rubs on some turns in a track and in general I would not recommend it as a fitment.

The rear is fine. You can definitely go with 265/40 I am not sure about 275 as 265 is cutting it pretty close.

275 is probably at the high end of the fitment range for an 8.5" wheel. As a matter of fact it may even be too big. I am not sure on that but I would double check with the tire rack people.

Also why do you want so much tire on the rear??

The c32 has plenty of grip on the rear. Adding more tire will cause more understeer.

Is this what you are looking for?

Hey, thanks for taking the time to reply. I will probably just go with the 255/40 to be safe. I did do my research on tirerack and found that there are only a few 275/40's that can fit on an 8.5" rim.

I was not able to find a 265/40 that fit an 8.5" rim.

I'm primarily looking for curb protection and traction. I rarely take turns that hard, so I'm not as concerned with the balance. There's enough torque to bust the rear tires loose, so to me that seems like I could use more rubber back there.

Thanks,
Alex
