Gycol found in C32, trans seems fine so far. Need advice on what to do
Heya all,
I found myself the new owner of a 2001 C32 AMG with 140.000 KM. Now I've been reading about the radiator and Gycol problems and figured I'd have it tested just in a case.
As you might guess, they found Gycol contamination at the local transmission revision specialist. The transmission does still seem to be completely smooth and I'm not experiencing any of the classic symptoms of the contamination.
The shop said they recommended a revision, regardless of the amount of gycol not being that serious yet,and that the Glycol would taint the trans even after flushing and fixing the leak. Now obviously, these guys are revision specialists so I figured I'd get you guys' opinion on this. Any ideas? Is getting an external radiator and flushing enough or should I seriously consider a full revision of the transmission?
I've tried searching for more threads on this but most people seem to only get this diagnosed after they start to have serious actual issues with the transmission.

Out Of Control!!
I wouldn't drive the car except to a repair shop where they will train and flush transmission after replacing the radiator, expect a thousand bucks.

Hey Plutoe,
Thanks for the advice man. I'm avoiding driving the car untill wendesday untill I get it to my garage. The other place quoted €700 for the flush and external transmission, so that seems pretty close to your estimate.
I Hope the Flush and external radiator is going to be enough.
