Need HELP....purchasing a C32

Ok guys...i could use your input.....I am in the market of purchasing a C32 AMG. I have located a dealership that is selling an 02 C32 AMG with 16k miles for $37K. I think this is a great price. SHould I haggle the guy for a few extra thousand, maybe I can bring it down to 35K. That would be great. I will get the 7 year, 100,000 miles warrenty, which is very key. Will be trading in my C230 kompressor so will be a major upgrade. This AMG is bone stock with basically zero options. I am thinking, I can transfer my Command, Bi-xenons, Expressions grill, and brand NEw AMG brake kit to the new car. Can I use a C-spot coupon on a used vehicle. Afterall , i will be financing this car. Let me know your thoughts.

You'll have to do your own research on pricing, however, if saving money is the primary concern private party deals should work out much better.

One cautionary note about the Starmark: know what you're getting. The basic certification (which they might try to pass the cost to you - don't let them!), is only good for 1-year. What you're referring to is the extended Starmark, which is purchased on top of the basic Starmark. The cost of the extended Starmark is higher for AMG vehicles vs non-AMGs. Additionally, Starmark is further divided into a power train only and a more comprehensive Starmark, but both are less comprehensive than the new car warranty.

I just purchased a 03 C32 with 12.3k miles and ALL options but the integrated phone, for 39k even, from a private party. While the price you quoted from the dealer for the 02 is not way out of line, that seems to be a little high for one that has essentially no options. Also, I would be surprised if you will be able to transfer your COMMAND system from one car to the other, b/c I've been told the center consoles are not compatible. You can't just pop out the stereo and little storage compt. underneath it and shove a COMMAND unit in there. If you want the nav system, wait until one comes available (especially if what I've said is true). That's simply too much money to spend on something you're not completely satisfied with. Once you've found that car, you can add on the other stuff (lights, brakes etc.) Remember, good things come to he who waits....

From what I'd been told, the C-spot coupon is not for AMG car and preowned as well.

That is a decent price depending on how the list your trade-in value. I got what I consider to be a screaming deal at $36K for an '02 with 13K miles and a second set of AMG wheels with snows on them.

Anyway, I would think it would be fair price as the Starmark is certainly worth something! I would have paid another $2K if I could have gotten a warranty.

More importantly, make sure it is the car you want. I bought mine because it was what I wanted in terms of miles and color. The deal was icing on the cake.
