Test drove C55 AMG

I just test drove the C55 AMG in South Cali. It was a wonderful drive.
Smoothe (due to the V8) and quick response. But I find the C32 has its advantages (used to own 1). It felt more 'quirky' and really responsive due to the supercharger.

Both cars are great, but I feel that Mercedes is rushing and making new line ups too quickly whereas BMW takes there time and gives time to their cars.

Do you agree?

I don't know if I'd agree with that, but I do notice certain things lacking in Mercedes that prevent it from being the runaway winner. Like...they should offer a manual transmission in the high performance models, the C32 should have had the Logic-7 sound system, the E55 should have had a more sporty feeling steering wheel. You buy a car and quickly realize things it should have had. I guess it's all par for the course, but when you shell out this kind of money you would think they'd get closer to the mark.

By the way, Andy, as a former C32 owner like myself, can you tell me if the C55 seats are any wider? The tightness of the side bolsters caused me a problem.

Actually, i find my C55 to be much more responsive, quicker & faster than my old C32.

The seats do seem a bit tight. They have a very stiff and bolstered feel to them.

MB should have just transplanted the E55 engine with compressor into the new C class. I understand how they opted not to because of segmentation.
But hey if you want a fast car, you do not necesseraly want a large E or S class.
So I can only assume that as a part of their response to the new M3 they will bring an updated version with the 5,5 lter compressor to close the circle.
