06 E55 current, M5 Sold, C32 Sold, 330xi Sold
all of them do show over at higher speeds.. im not sure if this will work on our cars, but with bmws at higher speeds if you reset the avg speed while driving it will show the accurate speed.

thanks guys....
i suspected the speedo was off. the big surprise was the fuel consumption. maybe the motor is loosening up. just turned 18K clicks.
off topic but took it for b service on sat, got a c320 loaner. not bad, has some scoot. make me think the new 4valve engine with 6 speed might be quite nice.

2004 C32 AMG
Anyone know how the cpu determines the MPG? Because when I was flooring it one day, my MPG increased from 20 to 22, but this doesn't make sense. At full throttle, my MPG should go to crapola. My guess is that it isn't very accurate and doesn't take into account the amount of fuel coming into the engine (full-throttle at 90mph or half throttle at 90mph, makes no difference)?

I think they just calculate the distance you've gone divided by the remaining fuel in your tank.... so it depends how your car levels...... if it's not (just like when you floored it - all the fuel should've shifted to the back of the tank and I think the censor is also at the back), the censor would show inaccurate fuel level, hence, inaccurate MPG.

...MPG measurement
couple yrs back I had a VW corrado g60 with a pretty nifty computer. if you reset it coming down a gradient you would momentarily get 100 mpg until you got back onto the gas......
unlike the northeast recently, toronto was devoid of cops. i'd say be prudent, pick your moment, take your chance.
