2006 c55 side marker lights

Have a strange situation I need some advice.

I had to replace both side marker sockets. Spliced in new ones, verified polarity and voltage (11.8v) at the socket contacts. Plugged in three different lights, I.e., clear mini, amber mini, and LED. None of them work. I unplugged the bulbs, turned them over to verify polarity, still nothing. Does anyone have any ideas?

Interesting. Those are driven directly from chips in the SAM. When one went bad on my 2006, there was no voltage present.

You sure you don't even get a dim light? You're not getting enough current for some reason. How many Ohms from the brown wire to the frame?

Not even a dim light.
Measuring about 2 ohms from brown to frame ground

Hmmm... So the ground is good. Is it the same on both sides? Do you have a regular low voltage LED that'll run on very little current? Apparently, you're limited to milliamps at best. My guess is something going on in the SAM.

Both sides are the same. The bulbs, i.e., the LEDs, clear, and amber mini lights, all work when directly across the battery. Ironically, and I don't know if this has anything to do with it, I get an indication on the dash that my drivers side mirror bulb is out. However, it works normally with the exception that the blinker intermittently blinks fast, then slow. But, if you look at the light, it blinks normally under all conditions.

Just took my iSoft MB II reader and did some analysis. The only indication on the front SAM was a S1s 1 - Exterior Light Switch Fault System. No DTC codes, etc.
