C55 AMG Harmonic Balancer Still Wobbles after Dealership Installation
I recently noticed that my old harmonic balancer had a bit of a wobble and decided to take it to the dealership to get a new one installed. I trust this dealership and the technician given that he is quite experienced and has done this job before and has worked for this place for nearly 20 years. After installation of the new harmonic balancer, I still notice a wobble and it seems to me that nothing has changed regarding the wobble.
I have had people tell me both opinions. The first being that it is normal, the second being the opposite. My technician told me that the wobble is normal for the M113 engines and that nothing is wrong with the way it works as of right now. He said the belt will have no issue staying in place. I am still confused on what to believe since people tell me both opinions.
I trust that my technician has to say but at the same time a part of me feels as if the pulley shouldn't have any wobble since it is precisely machined, balanced, and weighted to spin without much wobble (so I have been taught to believe). What is everyone's opinions on this? I know I cant expect any rotation and moving part to rotate in with perfect precision but at the same time I am still conflicted on this opinion.
I had this task completed at Hendrick Motors of Charlotte - Mercedes. My technician was Wolfgang Herbst.
