My brother gives me crap all the time about how I could of had a 600+HP tuner car with the amount I've invested into the C32. Would never turn back though. I'll stick with Mercedes for life. Definitely going to have a Supra as my high output drag car though at some point!

The funny thing is that it actually will cost less than $10 to fix any pump that has a leak with the MB kit we found, no need to spend $650 when we can just fix our own pumps. The only thing now is specialty tools needed to do certain jobs that cost an arm and a leg, but if you can do a lot of work yourself, the repairs are no more than any other car.

wow all these yunguns' make me feel old, first car was a Euro '64 220SE Heckflosse at 16 but after that I have owned tons of aircooled and a few watercooled(diesel) VW's, didn't come back to Mercedes till my '87 W124 Diesel (469K miles with no major work) when I was 29, then a '95 W202 280 when someone totaled the diesel, then the C55 this July. We did get my wife her '02 SLK32 in '06 though... she always gets the good stuff, wants a SLK55 now.
BTW I am 33

C63 507 AMG DA Car #19
The HUGE depreciation of the older AMG's is allowing more people to get these cars.... and more young people as well.
I doubt as many youngsters would be driving these new........ I'm still amazed at how a car can depreciate from 70K to 20K 4 years later with only 30K miles..... still in amazing shape!
Good for us.

I bought a new civic when i was younger for $16k, put on 70k mileage after 4yrs and sold it for $13k with bad brakes.
Then again there also people who don't want to blow a huge chunk of there income on a depreciating asset.
For me personally, i wouldn't spend more then 10% of my gross income on a car payment and insurance.

Bought my C32 a month ago and I'm 25. Was my first car payment as well
Always had cars I have had to fix up and decided buying land at 20 was more important than a new car.

Hopefully Valdosta didn't get hit as hard as the Tampa Bay Area with property values. My neighbors paid $287K for their Townhouse 4 years ago now they are shortselling for 100K appraised value is currently 109K when they bought for 287 it appraised at 325K.
Sad that property isn't a sure thing anymore.

I'm 33, but I'm guessing that the huge difference in the ages in this poll doesn't trully depect ownership, but rather forum use. I'm guessing ownership would be slightly more middle-aged than not but I think the younger generation spends much more time on forums and the like trying to understand the car.

Geeez at 50 I seem to be one of the antiques around here. Oh well, I've seen a lot in all those years too, so it's not all bad.

thtguy,
Valdosta did not get hit too badly on property values.
The property I own is outside of Atlanta where I grew up. I do know that when I bought the property almost 5 years ago I paid the same amount for it that the sellers paid for it 6 years earlier. While the land is valued at more than that, it wouldnt sell for that due to the declining market. I know Atlanta has taken a hit like Tampa...
It is sad that property is not a sure thing anymore, but right now if you can afford to buy it it is a great time to buy I have found out.
