I may try to disable the x-band but I noticed this am that a fair amount of the false alarms are K and I am aware that DPS (AZ state troopers) use both k and Ka. Thanks for the link. I will continue to monitor the situation, I have tried to adjust the volume and may re-program the time to mute.

On the good side I do believe I picked up an oncoming K that was an LEO though I did not actually see him pass.

This is a response I received from DPS whne asked what types of speed enformcement tools they were currently using.

"The Arizona Highway Patrol uses many different types of radars. Some of our older radars (Kustom HR-8) were purchased in the 1980's. The department uses hand-held stationary and moving radars from Kustom, Decatur and Stalker. We have dual antenna vehicle mounted radars from Kustom and Stalker. A lot of the older units are K band. The radars which we have purchased most recently are Ka band. We do not have many laser units at all.

As far as a preference , that varies with the officer and their assignment, training and background. Most officers are just glad to have one, what ever it is.

I hope that this helps."

Officer friendly.

Thanks, Nick.

This is a great forum and I'm learning a ton about C55's here. I currently have a 2000 Boxster S, but I'm thinking of trading it in for the C55. I saw one the other day at the dealer and it sounded amazing! I have to admit, the dealer was a jerk. We had to practically beg him to start it up, then he shut if off after 2-5 seconds. The dealership was totally empty at the time and he acted like he was too busy for me. What an ***. SMYTHE in San Jose sucks.

go to the near-top of the page, to where it says "THREAD TOOLS". Click on it and you'll get a small scroll-down menu. The last option is: "Subscribe to This Thread" Click on that, and voila, you're subscribed without posting.

Return it to Valentine for repair. When I bought my first one, it was incredibly over-sensitive, even after going into programming mode and reducing the sensitivity to minimum. I returned it and they verified there was a problem, and when it came back it worked perfectly.

It has saved me more times than I can count.

Nevermind, I realized that b/c I was already subscribed, it only had the option to Unsubscribe...makes sense!

Thanks ima55r2!

Also, met with the K-40 dealer yesterday and got a quote of $600 for everything installed. May do this. Anyone else have K-40 installed?

Nick
