Harmonic balancer question
#3
So I fired up the vehicle and there doesn't seem to be any excessuve shaking or rattling or even nosies for that matter, and under a load it didnt seem to change anything either. I measured the depth and it appears to only have the chunk missing like a 1/4 in deep and then the rubber is still there.

Ok so your choices are to leave it and hope it stays in place or replace it. The rubber part is the only thing that holds the inner part to the outer part, and once that deteriorates the outer part can and most likely will. Detach itself, probably causing ancillary and expensive damage.
This balancer also drives the supercharger, which puts lots more pressure on the rubber, as it’s again the only thing that attaches the inner and outer parts of the balancer together. Yours is missing some of that, which doesn’t make it more robust in any way. It may last for years or come apart tomorrow, but by the looks of it, it certainly isn’t getting stronger as it ages.

Much appreciated! Thanks for the input. I ended up ordering one as i dont think its worth it to not change it. Yea it was expensive but it was cheaper then if it let go and cause some real damage
