M3 or C55

I have to make a decision for a car in the next couple of weeks. Right now I have narrowed the field to the C55 AMG and M3 Cabrio. I know that the M3 gets a v-8 in '07 so im thinking about doing a two year lease on it. But, the c55 is also supposed to get a larger engine, so it would probably also be leased. Also, I have been reading posts about audio problems and a few other things. There both nice cars, which makes it hard to choose, so please help me.

Well, I think I can help you out here. I just sold my 2002 M3 cab two weeks ago and bought a C55 and never looked back. It really depends on your needs. If you have kids I strongly suggest going with the 4 door C55. Also, be VERY prepared to live with harsher ride of the M3, especially in the cab. Every bump is magnified in the Cab because the car will rattle and squeak like you wouldn't believe. It got to the point where I couldn't take it any more. Now, if you live in a sunny climate where you will have the top down most of the time, the rattles won't be an issue because there are none with the top down. The C55 ride is firm without being punishing. As a daily driver it is pure magic. You loose a little in handling as the M3 has the C55 beat in this area. But unless you track the car or want to pretend you are racing on the street this will not be an issue. I thought I would miss the manual transmission but I don't at all, especially in the stop and go traffic of daily commuting. And the AMG sport mode shifting is superb.

Both are excellent cars but you must really examine what you want out of it. Good luck with your decision.

M3 cab vs. C55...i would get the C55.

M3 Coupe vs. C55...tougher choice, depending on your needs.

I agree its a tough choice. Though against a cab I would rather have the C55, and as mentioneed above it was a bit harder choosing the C55 over the M3 coupe. I shopped the new 911, an M3 w/SMG and the C55 just so you know what was being considered before I bought the C55.

2005 C55
I also looked at the M3 Coupe, 911 (the new 997) and the C55. For a daily driver, the C55 is the most comfortable without giving up too much performance.

The 2005/6 3 series E46 is announced. The 330i already delivers 258hp.
The E36 look is history. Normally, one would not buy new for a high performance version for a fading out model.

If I were you, I would get the C55 that you saw with the digital climate control. If you are in the US (and I am not sure, since you never replied to my post) you might have a very rare car indeed.

Wow , why I never thought about this, thanks , that's what I hate about rattling . Now you awake me about cab is no good on harsh suspension.
I 100% agree this is a very very crucial point.
So, I would even not suggest CLK55 Cab.

I may have misread your post, but the new model is the E90 and the outgoing one is the e46 with the E36 stopping in the late 90's

Get the c55 hands down. But if you have the cash and really want a Cab, pick up the '05 clk 55 cab. Beautiful ride.

I have both...so I think I'll be as non-bais as possible

C55 is a great everyday supercar, comfortable better finish (compare to M3)
You'll always feel confident next to most car ( u know they can't catch you)

M3 is always my dream car since when I saw the E30 M3, the style and looks
is always outstanding. Control and handling is nothing near it at this price range.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I been driving the c55 two months now, like I said
i love to drive it everyday to work. I drive fast (doesn't mean I'm good) I do feel the different between them, the c55 has a great acceleration but for the handling and control specially when it at high speed ( 120+ mph ) lane change
M3 is better than the c55, and about the transmission Speedshift is nowhere close to the SMG for the instant response. For the service wise, I've had the
car for more than 2 year, I haven't paid a penny for any service ( oil change,
inspection 1, brake service). I know MB doesn't come with that. But the M3
does have many recall, which it's really disappointed me, even they extended
the warranty to 100K miles.

The bottom line is....u couldn't go wrong with either one....it's tough

C55 !!!!

I am a M3 fanatic, but I am also a diehard. The 95-99 E36 M3 was one of the best built sports cars not just of its time but ever, but the new M3 is just not a true M3. its heavy as hell, does not handle and sounds like a chainsaw running on deisel. its a disgrace to the M name in my opinion. I have a 95 M3 modded to hell and I love it, i'd never upgrade. with that said my next car will eventually be a C32 or C55.

enough said....
