if so, were the cops ****s to you? I assume that it'd be really shady and might scare or incite the cops if you try to frantically rip the detector off your windshield as they're pulling you over. Also, it creates a presumption that you were speeding in the first place, so they wouldn't be too lenient with ya.
any thoughts? thanks!
I was pulled over once on I-75 by an undercover cop driving a hooked up black civic (we have plenty of undercover cop cars in S. Florida). I wasnt speeding, the cop just stopped me because I looked young driving a bmw. He made a big deal of having a radar detector. He said people who have radar detectors means that they are constantly speeding. I just told him that its not illegal to have a radar detector in Florida nor driving a bmw in I-75. I have. I got pulled over last year and actually showed it to him cause it was unpluuged sitting in the center console. Other times the detectors are hardwired and requires the cop to either look through the front glass or bend way down and look up into the cabin to see them. I don't think they care that much. I have had good luck being honest and laid back with the cops and so far I have done well.Originally Posted by nlpamg

V1 vs 8500?
I am using both ones and my favorite installed on my S500 is 8500 x50
Performance-wise, New 8500 X50 outperforms V1 in almost every aspect.
V1 hardcore fans - I was one of them previously, would scream - Directional Arrows!!! They are cool, no doubt...
The only dumb problem is that once you getting tracked - you must slow down - no matter where the cop is.
BTW, just found a report on SpeedZones

In southern california they use KA band on highway patrol and street. I usualy have K beep when its those stationary speed signs the put there to remind you of your speed. Turn x off its just annoying.

LAPD uses instant on K -band on their motorcycles. Very hard to defeat regardless of the brand of radar detector unless they are tagging somebody ahead of you.

Radar detectors must correctly report instant on and constant on radar. Pulsed radar is another name for instant on radar. Using instant on radar, the officer triggers the radar gun for a short period of time, usually less than two seconds. This feature was introduced to defeat radar detectors. A POP mode radar transmission is shorter, 67 ms (67 thousandths of a second). POP mode was introduced by MPH Industries, makers of the Ka band Bee III radar gun. They did this to sell more radar guns to police.
