2002 C32 Transmission issues 722.6
Hey guys
I have a 2002 C32 AMG, bought in summer 2024, 50k miles, had good first owner, and probably abused by previous owner.
I have been having transmission issues of varying magnituge since i first bought the car.
My first repair was a new shifter assembly, and all good for a couple months. My main issue was 2-3 shifts when cold, slipping and struggling to engage gear, and it got better and worse at times. About three months ago, I changed conductor plate, plug, filter and gasket, and everything was good until about a month ago. Then 2-3 shift got worse and worse, and felt tcc not locking up correctly, so I changed all solenoids, and got like 30 miles of great riding, then it stuck in 1st, and then limp mode, showing a bad tcc solenoid (the replacement one was bad), I didnt check, and replaced valve body like 2 days after, and when I read codes, went back in to replace tcc solenoid. When I changed the valve body, I drove about 12 miles, 2-3 was super delayed, but not disengaged, just late, and flared a couple of times. Yesterday went to test, and limp mode right away. I'll check what codes i have now, but probably the same, cause its always the same issue (P2502, "the gear is implausible or transmission is slipping" has never gone away). (I don't have TCM in passenger foot well)
I have no idea what to do next, maybe some of the replacement parts have been bad, but I don't think so, and with everything, issue stays same, bad tcc solenoid was evident and different, but apart form that, its always tcc lockup and 2-3 shift issues.
I could replace everything again, but I thinks that'll be wasting more money, without solving anything. I do mostly everything myself, but I think I'm in over my head. My next step would be full tranny inspection and rebuild at a known workshop around me, he quoted me about 850usd (Car labor is cheap in my country), but thas still a lot of money.
