Wow. You could not just simply post the info on this thread. Instead you make snippy remarks, and tell people to search. Then you take the time to make this long post. Instead it would have been much easier to simply post what the part numbers were, since it was easy for you to find them. You could have just posted them when andy_cyp asked the first time, or when I asked. It pisses me off when people say "search the forums." If I knew speciffically what to search for I would have. Then, when I posted the part numbers that I had gathered it would have been a simple matter to confim the PNs for me. But instead of being helpful, you act like a complete ****.

I am definitely one who will make mods to a car to gain an additional horsepower here and there, but I won't sacrifice these gains for crappy looking parts. That SL55 intake looks like crap on a C32.

Zep, improving on Pierre's great work, I took the time to custom fit the cover and the intakes. I have pretty high standards as well and I think it came out great - it just took a lot of time. It can be done well and it actually looks more impressive than stock IMO.

Do you have any pictures of your install?

I actually haven't yet taken pics of the finished project. I took some in progress pics. But in those the finish work isn't done and the front bumper and wheels are off as the pulley, intercooler reservoir and zr3 installs were happening at the same time.

The car is at MB for service but I'll try and take some pics at some point and post.

That's cool Blando, I was just refering to the pic on the first page of this post. I think it would be better to run some custom piping off the Y-splitter and dual conical filters mounted up front in place of all that ill fitting plastic.

Blando,

has the dealer hassled you at all about the SL55 Intakes?

That's a pretty sanitary installation of pieces that were not designed to fit together.

By any chance do you have any pictures of the modified plastic bits that show what you did?.

I unfortunately didn't take many pics during the install as I would have liked to. But Pierre's guide/pics were very helpful - what he didn't cover was fairly easy to figure out and allowed opportunity for personal preference/enhancement.

The most difficult part for me was cutting, placing and gluing the forward mount of the new engine cover. Getting the new length and position of the mount right is tricky. I ended up using gobs of super cement glue so it could move a bit when I mounted it.

I'll try and take a pic of the underside of the cover when I get my car back.

Many thanks to the information from all of you about the mods of my car from the ex-owner.

I have decided to restore the orginal air-intake as i think the mods make the car too powerful for my wife and i got many complaints from her

Anyway, please let me know if any one of you are interested in those mods components after my restore. As those components are very new, i don't to waste those materials or waste time put them on eBay.

Please email me if you have interest.

Dic888: Before removing the mods, try putting it in W (Winter) mode. It starts in 2nd gear and changes the shift points. May give you the smooth acceleration you want for your wife. My car has a twitchy accellerator, and aroung town it is very smooth in W.

I had it in the W mode when I first got the car (not knowing any better and too lazy to read the manual) and I got ****ty gas mileage. The motor boggs too much and I think it uses more gas (could be wrong).

When I switched to S mode, I noticed an improvement in the gas mileage.

I don't think MB wants the car to be in W mode for extended periods of time???

DIC888: I am afraid going back to stock C32 air boxes will not help your wife. X55 air boxes mostly help on the top end. It sounds to me like she is having problem dealing with low-end TQ.

I do not know what your C32 has, but I would start with dealer loading stock software.

Good Luck!

same wife as when..

you had the c4 I find it amusing that she would "complain" this much in a c32 coming from a 911.... then again, my wife always complains LOL!!!

How about you "white out" and change the AMG Tech's name to "Mr. Smoothy", maybe she would be happier with that change...
