Pictures of my HRE 547R's on the car
Rears: 19x9.5 offset is 38, lip is 2.5"
I forgot the exact numbers of the tires, but the rears are 265 and front is 235. Used Toyo T1S (or something) courtesy of Vader13
also, H&R springs with #2 pad in the rear. I might go #4 in the future to even it out a little

benzx230: I bought vaders used old toyos when he switched to to his falkens. No rolling of the fenders at all. No rubbing at all, even when going off steep inclines

The rear offset is good. The front offset is interesting in that it is a higher number than most 8.5" width wheels for this car. I wonder if HRE is limited to this high of an offset number in accomodating the 1.5" front lip? Do you know the pad thickness? HRE can shave in 1mm increments. At an ET of 36 and running T1-S's, I will bet that you have close to no clearance between the wheel/tire and the strut housing. Is this true? You can turn the wheel full lock and jack up the car and look at the spacing. How many business cards/other hard material like cardboard, etc. fit and what is the width of the gap? A squarer side wall tire may rub on the inside. You may also have a problem with future coilover fitment as the strut tube is 3mm wider at the point of contact. How much clearance between the inner spokes and the outer brake caliper? Just curious in creating a database of various wheel fitments for the W203. Most front offset numbers are 30 or 32 with some wheels at 28 (which is too far out in my opinion and will rub on a lowered car). If I didn't have RENNtech Monolites, I would own the 547R's! Drop the rear with the thinest spring pad.
I dont plan on going coilover in the future. I dont use my car on the track, and dont plan to. If I was into that, I would use my BMW. This car is just for cruising, so I would prefer to keep the "comfort". Im not happy with the harsher ride now just from springs, so I may try some Koni adjustibles in the future.
Peter from Wheel Experts also told me that the wheels would rub with coilovers, and if I were to do that, he suggested a 8" width.
The space between the outer caliper and inside spoke is actually larger than the stock 17's. I can try and get a measurement later if you'd like.
You think the rears should be dropped MORE???? I would think it would look even more uneven.
I am glad HRE got the spoke spacing correct. If it is the same or greater than stock, no need to measure as this is enough info for me and it is very difficult to measure accurately. You should be able to stick a finger between the caliper and spoke if you have the space you say.
blackc320coupe, the wheels will rub with coilovers, guarenteed unless a spacer is used especially at very low ride heights. The stock strut housing is 55mm in width that tappers to 50mm at the point of wheel/tire contact. Coilovers are a minimum of 53mm consistant vertical width, therefore there is a 3mm reduction in clearance. The ET36 offset is 4-8mm closer to the strut tube than the other wheel offsets I mentioned. With my ET32 wheels and 235 40 18 Goodyear GSD3's I had .5mm clearance and they rubbed the coilovers under load. When I switched to Toyo T1-S, the more rounded shoulders and different profile and measurements provided an additional 2mm of clearance, but the gap is still very small. If I was to fit an ET34 wheel on the front it would be back to almost touching with the Toyo's and an ET36 would absolutely rub. Forget about running the Goodyears or the S03's or any other "wide" 235 tire. Just for argument's sake, if we look at my clearance of 2.5mm with the Toyo's with coilovers and a wheel of ET32, if I was to go with a ET36 wheel, I would be 1.5mm too short to clear. But if I had the stock strut housings that gave me an additional 3mm of clearance, I would be at 1.5mm of clearance between a ET36 wheel, Toyo's and stock strut. Peter knows what he is talking about.

I don't know about that. I have sold a set of HREs to someone with a C32 with the same front offset as that but a different rear, and I did not spec it out with coilovers and he is fine with his H&R coilovers installed. No rubbing. I even think my HRE's have that front offset and I did not spec mine for coilovers and I am not rubbing AT ALL on the front with mine set pretty low. Peter is a nice guy, only much to conservative with Mercedes fitments, it shows on every wheel he sells. To me it looks like he is more knowledgable in Porsche applications.
