Chip for C43

Anyone know who makes a chip for c43. Want to remove top speed governor.
I topped out my first c43, and governor came in at 150 mph. I read everywhere that it is 155? Anyone get same results?

There are a number of them - Powerchip, Speedtuning, Upsolute, Kleeman, etc. From prior posts it looks like the removal of the speed limiter may be the only guaranteed improvement.
I see you're in Foster City. Maybe we can hit up the local Upsolute guys for a volume discount Rocketeer Performance is in San Jose and does the Upsolute for $425. I'm going to want to do some before and after dyno runs though to finally put the question to rest. Nobody ever posts any real results and I have a very hard time believing the claims made by most of them.

While I am curious what the C43 would do without a governer (and yes, I have read 155, same with all AMGS, even new ones) I am not sure i would see the point in paying nearly $500 on something I would never get to use.

Cory at kleemann went over a few other benefits when I inquired about the tuning. He agreed that they don't see huge improvements on N/A engines with chips.

He did say that they have seen around 12-15hp with the tuning. Kleemann doesn't bullsh*t I find. You can have your car set up for 92 or 93 Octane map. Stock is 91 I believe. He spoke of this "dead spot" when you mash the gas from a stop. I notice this as the car rolls out of the hole a few inches then squeels and takes off. When I first drove this car I noticed that and thought "this thing should snap off of the line". So he claims this "dead spot" thing is fixed. I think it just wrings out the very last bit of power and opptimizes the car for speed with what it has.

I'd shoot kleemann an email.....not as $ as you'd think to

I'll be trying the Upsolute chip next week for my c43, followed by green filters and the evo pulleys (possibly a custom exhaust in there somewhere). I'll let you know what I think after each step.

I've got the Evo pulley kit as well, but have yet to install. Many folks suggest performing the other mods prior to the ECU reprogramming. I suppose if you are working with a "hands-on" tuner this wouldn't be as much an issue, but it could be that doing the mods first allows for proper ECU programming the first time. It would suck to have to spring another $100 to reprogram after each successive mod.

I had software done to my car and there was no real imporvment that i could tell even with the pullies. If I were you I would save your money for suspension or a superchager.

Good idea SDR, for those with the pulleys, was it worth it?

Hello, a little OT but what is the standard octane rating for unleaded in the US? You mention 91.. I wouldn't run my Fiat Panda on that!

Regular unleaded in the UK is 95 RON minimum.. Super varies between 97-99. I normally run my Subaru on Shell Optimax (98 RON) but have been running Greenergy 99 RON a few times recently. I have discovered that it is 5% bioethanol though, I don't think that's great for the engine as it's more acidic than gasoline.

When I pick up my C43 on Saturday I think I'll stick with Optimax as it's the most performance-orientated fuel available here (and, of course, the most expensive). Just think yourselves lucky on the other side of the pond.. I pay £4.40/gallon... $7.73 according to xe.com!!

Cheers,

Plug

Ouch! I pay $2.35 a gallon here (3.78 litres = 1 Gallon)

Maximum Octane I use here in GA is 93 octane, no problems........
(Is that a high performance Panda? )

Well, at least I get a bigger gallon for my money (4.54 litres) but that doesn't even it out.. Damn the tax we pay on our fuel...

Did you guys try this? http://www.powerchipgroup.com/datash...13/Mer0030.pdfIt's a POWERCHIP for C43.
They claim extra 27HP gain for $840.

I'm still up in the air regarding which chip to go with. I tend to shy away from the budget options (SpeedtunignUSA) as well as the overpriced (Kleemann, RENNtech), That leaves the middle options - Powerchip, Upsolute (still very low priced at $425) and a few others I've found with only one or two MBZ references. It would be great to know what others have used on a C43 and what the results were.
