how much is a real C55 worth?
2000 model, silver exterior...blue/black interior, 30k miles....not a converted C43...original C55 from AMG. Euro options ....parktronic and all of the US options .xenons ,rain sensor, cd changer etc.. bone - stock, no mods on it.
one of the rarest C classes ever with such options and mileage. probably the only one in USA.

Sorry that you misunderstood me. You are posting thread on C36-C43 forum. That's what I wanted to say. My curiosity started by seeing the C55 on a C36-C43 forum... Most of us (%95) are C43 and C36 owners.

I think you are confusing the cars......C55 i am talking about is a W202.... not the w203 C55.
They were so very rare ...they didnt even listed it in this forum, kept it only C43 and C36. BUt it is fact that there were also C55s in europe, originaly from factory.
You can check www.amgownersclub.de for more info, but the site is only in german.
That car was the original idea for all of the engine swaps done you have heard in this site. It was superior than C43, E55 SL 55 , CLK 55 during those years in performance aspect of course.....0-62 miles under 5,5 seconds

Since most of us paid about 14-17 grand on C43, I believe C55 should worth about 18-25k (or lesser). What year did they built those?

98 - 99 - 00 model years.....sold only in europe. about 30 units all together.

I am very happy with my C43, people knows that I hate mods. I like my car stock. No swapping for me

I have seen one W202 RHD C55, which was for sale a few miles from me - well over my budget though. The outfit selling it know a lot about performance cars and reckoned that it was 1 of 7 made in RHD, although there are no official figures. As was already said, you had to buy a C43 and then send it back to the factory for the mods to be done.
Bearing in mind that a UK C43 was more than £50K new, how much would the C55 have cost? No wonder they are as rare as rocking horse manure.

I laughed ; and how true. I'm much happier with the years I'll have with it modded how I like it instead.That said... But I'd have jumped on a stock W202 C55 if I could have (especially the wagon). Might not have even needed to lower it as the Euro springs placed the car @ the right height, unlike the "US lift-kit edition" we got here (oh, and still would have installed COMAND and Nokia 6310i phone kit).
I'd guess (or be willing to pay) a 25% premium over current region dependant C43 prices for what it is and the rareity of it.

It's just a fact of modern-day motoring. You're getting more for -- and out'a -- less. I bought my car new when it was one of the 'big guns' out on the road. Kinda put it in perspective for me when a Subi Forester XT [a turbo'ed cute-ute for those who dunno] of the last few years can get from one stoplight to the next quicker then my trusty old, stock, steed.

Tell you what guys, my first M3 was the 19th to last production of the E-30 model in the 1991 model year (last year made). You know, the boxy one with flared fenders and and the wild rear spoiler and the rev-happy 16v 4 cylinder engine. Always thought it was destined to be a collectable car.
When I bought that M3 I thought $18K for a used BMW was a lot to pay. That M3 sat on the dealer showroom floor until 1993 before it was sold. When I purchased it from the 1st owner in 1999, it was a mint condition and no expense spared car w 32K miles. Drove it for about 18K miles and sold it for $18K with 50K miles. Basically a "free" car for 2 years. In today's market, that same car would fetch low to mid $20s...an E-30 M3 with 80-90K miles today will fetch $18K if it hasn't been wrecked and has a decent history.
In my opinion, the C43 is destined to be something similarly "classic" (if not as collectable) as the E-30 M3. Now, the E-30 is much more of a "race car" than the AMG C43, but they are both limited-production high-quality German sedans. It seems we are near the price plateau on C43s...most are in the $15K to $19K range if they were well kept and have less than 100K miles. It would not suprise me that in a few years values start to creep slowly back up to low $20s for low-mile well kept examples of the C43. But that's just my opinion. However, you can bet I won't be selling my C43 anytime soon.

I see a nys trooper or county cop just about every trip to & from work everyday, meeting their quota. I have to 'walk on eggshells' just taking it above 70mph on the actual hiways around here. Forget any length up there.
So I find ways to enjoy myself at much lower speeds. Sure there's laws like 'unsafe starts' and others ... but that's not to say I'd ever be going to that extreme either, so I'm far less worried about getting up to 60 'quick' then going above 70.
...that's just me. Your milage may vary.
