Removal of ashtray assembly????

Did somethin stupid. I'm not even a smoker and I managed to get a lighter stuck behind my ash tray. The ashtray bucket was filled with quarters and had a random lighter siting on top of the change. I must have flipped the tray up fast as the lighter went up and over when it closed. Now the ashtray wont close properly only half way. The lighter is stuck behind.

Any idea on how to remove the ashtray assembly. I've taken out the removable ashtray and I'm affraid I will break some plastic as I'm not really sure how this thing comes out.

THANKS!

I think if you remove the cubby hole above, two phillips screws...slide it forward after removal of those screws. You should be able to access the "lighter" afterwards. I'm not at home yet to doublecheck, so if that don't work for ya, PM me later...I'll be happy to check again once I get home.

Don't feel bad, I did a similar thing with quarters on my SLK a week or so ago, luckily the great forum members gave me the information I needed to remove mine as well.

What can I do to get rid of the cigarette lighter/ashtray in a 2019 GLC. The E-Class comes with a Car Play/USB in the same slot which would be more functional than the connection in the center console. Do I order the mat from my dealer?
