C36, C43 in the snow

I know, silly place for an AMG. But I am looking to get one for a daily driver and we get a couple of good snow storms every year here in CO. How do they do in the snow? I know they are high performance RWD cars, but with the right tires are the okay? Thanks

If you buy the best winter tires on earth (usually Conti) then you'll have minor problems...but if you run some old tires you won't drive one inch!

I took those pics this (last) winter. I had new tires on and absolutely no problems.

Wouldn't get an S4 for many reasons. It's turbo, it's an Audi which means expensive to purchase and maintain let alone repair, and I just don't really like the looks.

Thanks FLYNAVY, those pics are encouraging. What kind of tires did you use in the winter?

won't argue with your other 2 points, but B5 S4's aren't much different in price than C43/36....actually, I could have gotten a nice S4 for way cheaper than what I paid for the C43...

mudflaps would be real nice on the car... functionally at least. the salt and snow crap puts these phantom tread marks on the fender right behind the tires.

the biggest thing against the S4 is the turbo and manual tranny. I have 3 manual tranny cars. Traffic in my city is getting to be a pain. So a auto as a daily driver with a 5-speed as a toy is what I want. I already have my 5-speed toy. Also, turbo with a auto is abad idea( 4 cylinder wise anyhow).

Get dedicated snow tires, and you'll be fine. The Blizzak's I have for my C36 have provided the best snow handling I have had in years. I don't think I will ever go back to all-seasons ever again.

C43 AMG
I haven't tried em on a C43 yet, but Blizzaks worked like magic on my last car. They basically have the effectiveness of old school studded tires.
