[QUOTE=coolcarlskiC43;1879270]5.5L w202 should be faster than that Brabus car. The hammer 300e was also co-built by porsche like the 500e I believe but I could be wrong.[/QUOTE

"brabus car" you mean w203 Brabus C V8? or w202 Brabus C V8?
I believe w203 Brabus is half second quicker of the line. 0-62 4.9 seconds vs 5.5 second for C55 AMG. But I am not sure about the C43 to 5.4L converted ones I think C43 differential is taller than w202 C55 differential so it should be quicker than the original C55 that AMG built.

I havent heard anything about the 300e Hammer co built by porsche. All I know is Brabus used the 560sec engine on the 300e chassis then bored out the 5.5L engine to 6.0L producing 380hp. this mod was 17K for the engine and 40k for the convertion. Then another 40k for the bigger brakes, body kit, wheels and suspention. Brabus claims 0-62 in 5.6 seconds.

You are at least 100,000DM too low in your estimate. FWIW, The 300CE "Hammer" coupe 6.0 4V sold for 385,000DM!!

Are you confusing the "Hammer" built by AMG and the Mercedes-Benz 500E, assembled by Porsche? Two TOTALLY different cars.

my estimation is not that bad 385.000Dm was something like 200.000 usd. Dont confuse 1DM=1 Euro ...that was only the last years of DM.

At the time, a 3.0-litre 177-hp 6-cylinder 300E would have set you back $39,000. For a cool $17,000, AMG would replace that 3-litre unit with the 5.5-litre V8 from the 560SEC and add 32-valve cylinder heads and twin camshafts. That conversion was good for 360 hp DIN in Europe (slightly less in North America due to emission regulations) but as of 1988, if you wanted the Hammer of Hammers, you'd pop for an additional $39,950 and AMG technicians would bore out the 5.6-litre unit to 6.0-litres and 375 hp DIN. A further $33,302 bought you a different rear differential, Gleason-Torsen LSD, stronger rear sub frame and a host of other chassis mods. Figure about another $14,170 for the AMG suspension, 17 inch chrome wheels and tires, an interior package and aerodynamic body kit (including painting and mounting) and, of course, don't forget about the $18,000 labour charge, and the grand total would be smooth $161,422. What a nice accounting lesson. And remember, folks, this was back in 1988!

No i am not confusing 500e and 300e. Coolcarlskic43 said above 300e hammer might be cobuilt by porsche. and i said i dont know about it. I know about the 500e, about 7200 units handbuilt by porsche-mercedes. wih a different differantial ratio it was capable of running 0-60 miles in high 5 seconds.(stock low 6 second i believe)

I believe 180 mph is the limiter on the Brabus C V8. not the actual top speed.

1.8L more displacement 100hp and 140 TQ more. Same chassis , same everything. I dont see how C43 outperforms Brabus C V8. Its 0.5 seconds quicker of the line and 25mph more for topspeed. I believe these numbers are great if you think these mods were designed in mid 90s. (First Brabus C V8 was 1997 model)

Brabus C V8 in its time was a good competition to many sport cars like Ferrari 355, 911 Carrera, Masserati etc.. They all were low to mid 5 seconds cars.

Comparing 1996s Brabus C V8 to todays performance numbers is like comparing Ferrari 355 to F430 or 360 modena. Whatever mod you put on 355 will not still beat 430 which is the current dino.
