C43 gets respect it deserves.....
I wanted to share a great experience that I had with my C43 last October, when I think the car got some pretty good respect with the general car crazy community. I entered the car in a hot rod show here in Dallas at the Unique Performance facility - famous for the '67 Shelby Eleanor clones. It's a large show and was attended by Chip Foose. I entered my car in the show at the last minute because I discovered that if you entered in the "Foose Corral" (50 car limit) for $100, you got to meet Chip, get your picture taken, autograph, goodie bag, etc. That was fun and went great....his comment about the C43 was, "cool car". He specifically noticed the engraved, patterned B pillar treatment. I mentioned that it has many of the same treatments that he gives to his customs......skirts and facias, two-toned leather, hot V8...he agreed. He told me that he had just bought his wife an S550.
There were easily a couple of hundred cars entered in the greater show, mostly street rods and muscle cars, and of course lot's of mustangs old and new. The respect for the C43 came through when it won a class award trophy in the open class. The car was arguably a fish out of water in the venue, but it was apparently recognized for what it is by the fans. I heard that about 13,000 people had attended the day-long show. I noticed a number of people writing down the C43's number on their ballots during the day....but I was blown away that it won the award. I've attended many many car shows but never entered a car in one, and it was a great experience thanks to my C43!
Regards,
John
