C36 vs. C43

hehe, good luck fly navy, do you know how few multi-piece AMG wheels were made in that style. Probably no more than a hundred sets in the world.
P.S. I never liked red but I have to admit that is the most badass red one I've seen.

couldnt keep up with a c36 in your clk55 or you didnt have the ***** to go as fast?
you guys gotta take a step back and notice that the red w202, despite how nice it looks, is a non-sport c280... pretty bland, but dressed up pretty. kinda like a woman who looks hot in clothes but looks ok when nekkid... same story here my friends.

c43 gas guzzler
How many miles per tank on your usual mixed driving routine? 300?
My aforementioned 2005 C230 K with the same sized gas tank has yet to crest 400 miles on a tank of mixed driving. I had 398 once before the reserve light came on.
My car weighs less, has a substantially lower coefficient of drag, and an ultra efficient forced induction 16 Valve 1.8L . There is no driving situation were your car will match mines fuel economy (all other things equal) unless of course you preform a race track fuel economy test like they did this season on Top Gear.
I have not run a tank empty on the highway alone yet, but am confident that I could make 500 miles at 65-70 MPH with the cruise control. By driving slower up hills, faster down hills and doing some draft action when possible, I could get up to 540 miles before reserve.
There is a HUMONGOUS difference between emptying a tank in a single highway run and ANYTHING else.

93 octance here in georgia, hes probably using bp gas or another major brand. most other gasses are crap. especially if you live in an area where 91 octane is the premium lol...
you know his gas tank is the same size as ours too?
i got my 1st c43 from washington dc. 8 days after my 97 c280 was severely rear-ended. i noticed IMMEDIATELY how much more gas it drank than my c280 (which i drove about 20k a year). being very familiar with a car that i had clocked at a hair over 31mpg on a 3 hr highway drive i was really surprised at how much more gas the c43 used during my 10 hour drive from dc -> atlanta. i had to stop to refuel several times. i was very dissapointed but at the same time didnt give a **** because i was driving (to me) a dream car

Last time I drove over 300 miles before filling, I ended up pumping 12 gallons into the tank. So presumably there were 4 more in the tank, right? That was ~ 30/70 in town and on the freeway respectively (since my drive to work is both). Works out to be 25 mpg.

C43:
3350 lb curb weight (verified on my most recent weigh-in)
0.32 CD
C230K (w204)
3280 lb curb weight
0.27 CD
From an engineer's standpoint (yes, I have a degree in mechanical engineering w/ a focus on "fluids") the difference in these CD's is not enormous. Pick up trucks are generally in the 4.5-5 CD range, so a 0.05 difference does not amount to whole lot when all other variables are factored in. Also, the weight difference is 70 lbs? That's like the difference between my car having the trunk full of bags for a trip and having it empty. Yes that could affect gas mileage, but I've never noticed much difference either way. Maybe you are just driving with hidden lead weights in your car
Edit: actually, haha I should have read more closely. I am actually quite familiar w/ the w204 C230K, and I even made an extended drive through OR into northern WA in one several months ago. I was surprised at how similar the gas consumption was to my C43, so maybe that just confirms the situation. Nice cars, although they really should not have re-designed that center console. Top drawer on that f**king thing would not close or open to save its life.

I've always been fascinated by the 190e. After having 4 E30 bmws I wanted to switch over and get a 190e. I have yet to find one to my liking though. I would want either EVOII (super rare) or a 190e w/ 3.6L M104 conversion but both are hard to find or comeby and nobody who has done the swap is willing to let go of their car.
What have you done on yours?

I have done a bunch of cosmetic mods (w202 style hood, fender flares in front, AMG front and rear spoilers, 16v side cladding and rocker panels, etc), and am just putting the final touches on my 5.6L v8 swap. Motor was from a 560 SEL. Tons of mods related to that.....(headers, full custom exhaust, 500e swaybar, 16v steering box, oil cooler, C36 brakes to name a few)

Yeah they are great cars...definitely in the same spirit as the e30. You will not find an evo II this side of the atlantic (there were only 2 documented gray market imports to the US, and maybe another evo I and evo II in Canada if I remember right that weren't US federalized ever), but there is a 3.6L conversion 190e w/ a Wald kit FS over on the 190e site. It is priced at 11k right now, and has been for sale for some time now. Has a 5 spd manual gearbox. Look up rammbs over there if you are interested.

Most recent photos are in the last couple pages.....

i just ordered a pair, lets see how good they are the price is reasonable, those are def one of my favorite lookin wheels for the c43 or 36, now just need to order some nice tires.

The only thing I have to say is that consistently averaging 25 MPG in mixed driving on a car that was EPA tested 18/23 is pretty talented. Especially considering that the EPA highway testing for (pre 2008) is at 55mph with no A/C.
p.s
w203. w204 is the 2008+

TAKE SOME PICS PLEASE. I like to see if the rear tires have that big LIP like the ones on the red car. I looked at the ebay ones and from their pictures the lip seem to be the same on all 4, SMALL.
