no
different case size ,different bolt pattern, different shift control(electronic).
Just put on taller tires if you want overdrive, you will loose a little bottom end power but you will pick up some mpg top end.

Err, why??
The 4 speed is rock solid, and you will waste wayy to much money with the trans computer and such (AS you probably know the 4 speed is vacuum controlled)
As previous poster stated, put a manual box into it, a 2.3 16v box is the best option, did quite a bit of research when I havd my C36.

As I stated, the 5 speed getrag from the 190E 2.3/2.5 16v
You will need the transmission, prop shafts, clutch, flywheel and other bits. W202 Manual transmission crossmember and clutch pedal.
Possibly a few bits I have forgotten, I have screeds of info on this though.
Try and find an entire car thats been in an accident so you can pilfer all the bits, the OE 190E flywheel will need to be modified a bit so the car will run (pickup sensor related).
Most of its direct bolt in, the only difficult bit is the flywheel modification thats needed, but you could always just get a manual W202 flywheel (not as good though as its a crummy dual mass, afaik the 190E unit is a much lighter single mass unit.

single mass chatter though, dual mass will not cause gear chatter, and the heavier W202 manual is much easier & simpler swap, further more the weight difference still isn't bad compared to a torque converter which is VERY heavy.

And apart from the fact you dont need to mod the flywheel for the W202 I dont think its any easier to install.
Oh and RE this chatter you speak of, I know plenty of people (albiet they drive VAGS (Mk4 GTI Golfs and a couple of Audi S3s) that switched from the stock dual mass to a single mass, and have only good things to say about it, improved drivability, better revving and such.
A guy on club202 is using a custom made single mass for his Turbo C280 also.

I want to join in. I have a 2000 c230 kompressor with tiptronic 5 speed transmission. But, I want a straight 5 speed manual. Now, will the 190E 5 speed still bolt straight up and run fine being as there both 2.3l motors? Also would I still need to change the cross member? Would I keep my ECU or use the one from the 190E? Can I use to 190E clutch pedal? What kind of modifications are needed for the flywheel?
