it looks like i m gonna go with the VIS hood, my only concern is, would i still need to install the heat blanket or whatever that padding is under the stock hood, on the CF hood?

I bought Nitro's hood. The fit was a P-I-T-A because the hood hinges are so heavy duty, the the lack of weight ( in regards to the hood) made it a bit cumbersome to close. No ,I didn't install the sound insulation/heat shield or whatever you want to call the underlayment mat.Back to the fitment - the hood I have would require a little re-enforcement where the hinges attach before I would re-install it.Right now it sits in the garage until I decide if I want to keep it or get rid of it.

30lbs sounds much more like it. The OEM hood should be around 100lbs, so an 80lbs CF hood would make no since to me. Might as well just lay vinyl if all you want is the looks. I would paint the real CF black to match my car and just save the weight or I guess I would have to see how it looked on the car. CF on the body of a car has always been more of a JDM look than German IMHO.
