Code 1542 Pedal Value Sensor (or Throttle Position Sensor)
I have a 98 C43 AMG (a C class with the 430 motor). I have a new MAF sensor, just installed 2 weeks ago. Still I have a throttle problem.
I had it scanned, and the code is 1542. This is a Pedal Value Sensor or Throttle Position Sensor, depending who you talk to.
I called around, and I was told this is part of the "Electronic Gas Actuator Slide Valve" - whatever that is. The dealer said it was $1,500 for the part alone.
Can anyone tell me if they have had trouble with this? And what was the remedy?
The problem: Under hard acceleration (ie getting on the highway), the throttle goes into "safety mode". In other words, you can put the pedal all the way to the floor - it takes a few seconds, and then it gradually accelerates. Once I shut it off, and restart, it resets itself. HELP!
