I too am interested to see where this is going, count me in.
1. An ambitious company or individual posts about making headers.
2. People get all excited, say they are interested and would pony up the cash
3. Wait...wait...wait
4. Someone brings thread back from dead asking why the headers never happened
5. OP says either "it was too hard/too expensive to make them" or "nobody would buy them"
Personally I've given up on any headers coming from this forum, just going to have a set of longtubes custom made for my N/A C36 and eventually another set made for the turbo C36.

I have a set of stock C36 headers and it would be possible to do a 3-to-1 design but there is the space and fitment issue. So if anyone is close to KC maybe when can get this going. The steps that go into making a header are something like this:
1. Get a stock header.
2. Make a fixture from the stock header.
3. Get measurements for clearance from the vehicle.
4. Design and fabricate header.
5. Get header installed for to see if there are any issues with fitment.
6. Then try and see if anyone would want them.

I'd have no problems loaning my car locally to an interested shop for a month or two in order to fabricate some long tubes: I've been wanting them that badly.
Problem is finding someone local who will do it right.
In the end I'm probably going to talk with a local BMW shop about fabricating something for me. They track-prep a lot of cars so hopefully we can figure something out.

So we are going back to the factory flange design...
