Tried to get to fancy with the flanges and the design didn't test out well. So we are going back to the factory flange design...

What ever happened to this? I'd love to see some headers if they were made.

The same thing happened to these headers that has happened to every other C36 header project on mbworld:

1. An ambitious company or individual posts about making headers.
2. People get all excited, say they are interested and would pony up the cash
3. Wait...wait...wait
4. Someone brings thread back from dead asking why the headers never happened
5. OP says either "it was too hard/too expensive to make them" or "nobody would buy them"

Personally I've given up on any headers coming from this forum, just going to have a set of longtubes custom made for my N/A C36 and eventually another set made for the turbo C36.

Well, the other thing is there is no way to test them for fitment without a car. Its not hard, but it is somewhat of an undertaking. And yes, I am a small company but I still do quality work.

I have a set of stock C36 headers and it would be possible to do a 3-to-1 design but there is the space and fitment issue. So if anyone is close to KC maybe when can get this going. The steps that go into making a header are something like this:

1. Get a stock header.
2. Make a fixture from the stock header.
3. Get measurements for clearance from the vehicle.
4. Design and fabricate header.
5. Get header installed for to see if there are any issues with fitment.
6. Then try and see if anyone would want them.

1995 C 36 AMG; 1992 W124 300E (M103 Ex Mosselman TT KIT) was 320hp @10psi now stock :(
the problem is u have to seriously research tube diameter and length to make it worthy, other wise u'll be losing power not making power.

Right, that's my point. To do it properly you need to put a lot of time, energy, and money into the R&D side of things and then there's still no guarantee people will buy them.

I'd have no problems loaning my car locally to an interested shop for a month or two in order to fabricate some long tubes: I've been wanting them that badly.

Problem is finding someone local who will do it right.

In the end I'm probably going to talk with a local BMW shop about fabricating something for me. They track-prep a lot of cars so hopefully we can figure something out.

I raced a w124 with a 36engine in it and a 3.07 diff and a custom fit BMW e46m3 header on the car. The car is in amazing shape yet by 200km/h I was ahead of him by atleast 2cars

Theres nothing special about the stock manifolds, they are found all over the junkyards on the C280.

I can honestly say, even a regular tubular header would make power.

it might be easy to gain a few hp top end but have you dynoed any to see how much torqe u have lost, cause that w124 36 with a lighter body and shorter diff 3.07 vs 2.87 on mine, it felt gutless low down!!!

There is a program we use to determine the optimum specs for a header.
