Passed emissions without EGR valve?!?!
I just got back form an emissions test and I passed with flying colors WITHOUT an egr valve. The check engine light came on yesterday so I went to walmart and picked up a code reader for $100. Plugged the sucker into my OBDII port (its a 1995 too!) and sure enough the EGR DTC popped up, so I erased it
. I do have another bosch EGR in the box but no garage or warm place to work so I'm going to put it on the backburner. I plugged the tube in the back of the EGR valve with a high temp rubber stopper for now.

Emissions is a scam...at least it is here in Cal. Glad you passed. Was it a roller/sniffer only or did they plug into yer car? Did you bypass the EGR prior to the test, maybe it was intermittent during the test and it did actually work for that minute.

They plugged it in and sniffed it at 1100RPM and 2700RPM (something around there). I can scan the test in if your curious. They also popped the hood and I saw them peeking around, thank god that EGR is tucked in there real good, it also looks like its connected though the way I did it. The tube has been plugged up since I bought it, this way I could drive it home as is was creating horrible hesitation, coughing, no power ect. Although emissions is a scam, there are loopholes for everything.... ask O.J. Simpson!! I'm thrilled, just got my permanent registration, time to cruiseeeee.
