Yup. I believe there were two styles. This is one of them.

I have the same one on my 1996 but the guy before me said he put it in. I think he said that's the updated 1997 style.

Pre 97 amg's use the common mercedes wheel with a two tone color on the bottom of the wheel. These are on the 97 c36's and c43's.

Is this the interior of your 36?

Unfortunately this is not my interior, just a photo of one on ebay as of now. It's steering wheel got my attention however. My 1995 C36 has the generic two-toned wheel mentioned above in it and I REALLY like this updated wheel. Not only is it sporting an AMG logo, it has easy to reach horn buttons and a sleeker design. My current steering wheel really needs to be wailed on for the horn to sound and it pisses me off when I just want to do a quick two-toot when dispatching friends houses, waking red light dreamers, ect. Are the updated versions rare to come by? Cost an arm and a leg? Thanks for the insight so far fellas!

They have a much nicer grip than the generic wheel, hold for your thumb and fingers in the ten-two position. From what I remember the generic wheel doesnt have a grip like this...

I am not positive how rare they are, however Im sure you could find one from a parting out amg, more likely out of a 43, and I think your going to spend close to $300, however I think its very worth it

Absolutely worth it! I can tell you from the photo that the grip is at least twice as nice as mine, it even looks meaner and cooler . I'm really becoming obsessed with this steering wheel thing.....I'll be nice to have a legitimate horn again too! I'm excited!

Sure is from that Florida car! BTW I'm planning on doing some carbon fiber stuff soon, I have not forgotten about that writeup .

your horn problem can be solved with a simple star bit tightening the bolts behind the steering wheel.

Thanks Jay.... you always have the most esoteric knowledge! AMG Guru!

+2 Greg......would you happen to know what size torx? T25 maybe? or is it those weird 12 point spline/XZN bits?

It really depends on where my hand is positioned and where I'm pressing (Thats what she said....) anyhow seems like Greg is right on. There are also two wicked rattling rackets that drive me absolutley nuts as I'm pretty neurotic about rattles. When I press on the steering wheel upwards with my knee when driving it seems to help and there there is without a doubt something rattling under the dash right in the middle...ohh boy..
