charged battery but now car wont turn over?? Help!

Ok so my battery was dead bc i hadnt driven it in a month or so... no problem i put on my Sears battery charger..,.try to start after a few minutes, I get the "click click click" which is the familiar sound the starter makes if theres not enough juice....
So I leave it to charge for a few hours, come back tonight and now the battery is charged, when I turn the key all the dash lights come on, windows work etc but I get absolutely NO cranking from the starter. Nothing at all, not even a click.
I think I remember seeing somewhere that Mercedes cars dont like having their battery charged while hooked up to the car and I should have disconnected it before charging...did I damage the car? Whats the likely failure?
Is there a fuse or something I blew? Please help!

Make sure the battery is not dead. You mentioned that is has discharged a few times previously, this will eventually render a battery unable to hold a charge. You should be okay charging the battery in the car with a trickle/slow charger. I know of OVP (over voltage protection) relays being damaged from using jumper cables to jumpstart the battery. Do you have another car that you could swap the battery out of so you could completley rule out the battery as an issue?

Not a problem! Very glad it was something simple and inexpensive. I suggest you start making it a habit to start her up every weekend for 15 minutes or so. Your engine and battery will love you for it .

+1....15 minutes or longer. You want to heat up the exhaust system to remove the moisture!
