1995 C 36 AMG; 1992 W124 300E (M103 Ex Mosselman TT KIT) was 320hp @10psi now stock :(
Cruse Control on 95 C36AMG issue.

The cruise control on my AMG refuses to engage at any speed above 130KM/h
Below that the cruise runs dead on and is very smooth, above that it engages for part of a second and then just switches off.
Any had a similar issue, or know what might be the issue?

I haven't used the cruise control for a long time now, recently i had my tires changed and the size i went for is not the stock ones
Fronts are 235/40/17 which is abt 2.2% smaller than the stock size
Rears are 255/40/17 which is abt 1.1% larger in diameter than the stock.

Question is can this be the cause of the issue? and if so how come ASR is working fine and accurate?

thanks.

If that was a CLK, the tire difference would be the #1 candidate.

I have the ASR V system, and i suspect its the tire diff and today i checked again the cruise doesn't engage over 100km/h

Jay this dies sound like it could be related to the spedometer error due to the tire sizes. I'm thinking at lower speeds 100km/h the error is within compensation but at higher speeds it starts confusing the cruise control .
I currently have 225/45/17's (snow set) on all four corners with no problems yet I have read about other C36 owners having ASR problems with the same setup...luck of the draw? BTW I SWEAR I will remember to grab a caliper from work today....

To calculate speed on A CLK, the instrument cluster computer checks the wheel speed of all four wheel speed sensors. The individual wheel speeds are compared and checked for plausibility. If wheel speed signals differ significantly, the computer checks whether the car is cornering. It does this by side to side comparisons. I find this odd because the car has a steering angle sensor - why not use it? At any rate, if it doesn’t determine that the car is turning (although a sharp enough turn will disengage the cruise), it determines something is definitely wrong, and shuts down cruise. This can also happen if a wheel speed sensor is coated with a decade's worth of brake dust. I don't know how it works on an early 202. I believe the later 202s work the same as a 208.

I think its the same, for i have noticed that a sharp turn will disengage the cruise. Also the higher the speed the less sharp the turn needs to be to disengage. (my 202 doesn't have a steering angle sensor)

So it can be that my 202 uses a something close to what a CLK uses.
thanks for the explaining thou, i never knew it did all that.
