performance = sacrificing noise, treadwear, and wet traction
shopping for tires is always a balance between these factors and your driving style combined with your wallet
what's your budget?

i've always been partial to bridgestones. i have the re01-r's now, and the so-3's before that. i have to admit that i probably never get anywhere close to the limit in my car, both because the car is old and also because i'm not a huge fan of getting speeding tickets, but i still like having good rubber on the car. your 19's will obviously be more expensive than my 17's, so these may be over budget.

lot's of good tire options in that price range: hankook ventus evo k110, falken fk452, potenza re050 pole positions, etc.
if you want best dry grip hands down, no wet grip, and don't care how fast these wear out i'd recommend hankook ventus rs-3 or toyo r888

also partial to bridgestone.. have gone from s-01, to s-02, to s-03, to re050 ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
goodyear f1 seem to be pretty good as a road tire. however, could be the guy was driving much harder than i was or something, they overheated and got all gooey with lots of nasty rubber build up after a few laps during a track day. (compared to my tread thickness at wear bar s-03, which held up fine)
old pirelli p-zeros were ok too, but i found them too soft (see 4 blown tires via potholes at under speed limits). maybe the newer ones are less prone to impact damage

Michelin PS2's for me
Never had any problems. Less tram lining than Pirelli Zeros and last longer for me too

Goodyear F1 All Seasons here, good handling and OK ride, but the fronts aree a bit noisy IMHO and a little more noisy than the high performance summer F1s. I have heard that the Michelin Pilots and Continentals are quieter.

Drove over the Alps south yesterday in horrendous weather ![EEK!](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)

and monsoon type showers. Despite very bad road conditions, felt safe with my new Michelin PS2's. I don't regret my choice

No, but I have PS2s now and will be buying the Continental DWS to replace. In my opinion, you don't need the PS2s unless you are going to be making very aggressive turns. I have noticed that they best for summer and warm weather. They do wear out too fast for the price and they ride rough over rough surfaces. I expect the DWS will be a better tire for all around driving including seasonal changes.

thank you for the feedback. I live in Washington state - the east side or 'dry' side - we get 7 inches or less rain and about 3 to 4 inches of snow for a couple of weeks and that's it for winter. I need an A/S tire, but don't want to sacrifice too much performance and the Conti DWS seems to fit the bill. The reviews at Tire Rack at excellent and people seem jacked on them! $496 for a complete set for the C43 - add in shipping and mounting and your under $650 for a complete set - not bad when you consider the tire quality. I'll update when I pick them up - probably at summers end...

503 sounds good - we don't get the rain you do, but I bet they'll serve you well. I'm keeping the stock 17 with monoblocks so I can pick up the Conti's all set up for around $650 or less for a complete set, figure I'll go with those.
