Funny smell, you have to laugh
So ever since I bought my C43 there has been this funny smell throughout the cabin, doesn't smell terrible just different. One of my buddies even mentioned it the first time he sat in the car. Me being MR.PICKY when it comes to my cars went all out on a cleaning mission to eradicate the smell. I vacuumed, I scrubbed, I even FEBREEZED the carpet and it definitely reduced the odor but did not remove it . I gave up thinking somehow this smell was in my headliner or carpet and I would most likely have to live with it. The last couple days I have been trying to learn everything I can about my C43 so I have been taking everything apart to see how it works and if I need to fix something in the future I will know how to go about it. I am looking at how to disconnect the front passenger seat when I see an odd shape and color attached to the guide rails of the seat. Its tucked away in the darkness and explains why I never saw it. I decide it doesn't look like it is part of the seat and so I decide to remove and inspect it. Here is a pic of what I pulled out:
This is a tangerine of some sort about the size of a golf ball and it was stuck under the seat for who knows how long. I can tell you this, the damn thing was hard as a rock so it must of been there for quite some time. BINGO this is the cause of the ODOR!!!! I removed it and Febreezed the surrounding area BOOM ODOR GONE!!!!
Long story short:
Leave no stone unturned (or seat in my case) the problem could be right under your nose (or seat in my case)

P.S did you check out the you tube link I had posted??? There are 12 videos on there that I could find with a certified MB tech taking apart all sorts of stuff on our BELOVED W202's including the sunroof, door panels, rear view mirror, etc..... REALLY HELPFUL to be able to watch a pro do it.

maybe previous owner drove the c43 in the Cannonball Run rally?
he got some rotten fruit stuck inside the car by Jamie Farr playing the sheik!
so previous owner couldn't find the smell and he sold the car to you!
and now you found the problem giving your friends a smelly Nelly odor!
Cannonball Run is a funny movie
