Miscellaneous Problems, Need Advice

Some minor things I need taken care of that really bother me. Do you guys know anything about these? See if you can chime in:

Rear window defogger\defroster. Doesn't work at all. I press the button and it lights up and stays lit up, but no effect on the window. Is there a specific relay I should be testing for this? Any common wiring sproblems?

A\C doesn't work at all. Also the electric fans keep going on and off on the highest speed and it sounds very loud. Someone has mentioned the two symptoms could very well indicate that my A\C pressure switch is bad, especially because the fans don't go crazy if I unplug that switch.

Interior light keeps turning on, on the 'door open' position. The thing about this is one is I'll be driving and everything is cool. As soon as the car stop at a red light the light fades on. I start moving it turns off again. Sound like a door sensor or what? What can this be?

Thanks ahead of time

Ah the infamous gremlin...... I do not envy you. You obviously have a loose electrical connection somewhere. One way to find this is to sit down with a complete wiring diagram and go through it until you find one spot that affects all these circuits. This can require a fair amount of electrical knowledge because sometimes a misbehaving circuit can affect adjacent circuits. A good electrical technician has the best chance of finding it.

For the AC issue, if you can put the system in diagnostic mode and list the codes, that may help in determining the problem.

Oh wow. Cool! Something tells me this is NOT in the Bentley manual.

Electrical gremlins sometimes are a sign of a battery going bad.How old is your battery?

I'll look over the wiring diagrams for the rear defogger and tell you where and what relay to check out. Also see if I can check out the diagram for the door switches, seems to me like a wire is shorting when the car is decelerating possibly?? I'll post back tonight....

See if you can disconnect some door pins until the problem goes away. When that happens you found your problem...

EDIT: Looks like my A\C system pressure is off. This would explain my AUX fan spazzing on and off all the time, since if I disconnect that sensor the fan calms down.
WIS = The Workshop Information System (WIS) is a modern DP supported information system.
It not only replaces the workshop documentation available to date on paper and microfilm, but also offers a multitude of possibilities for attaining information required. Knowledge required for optimum use of "WIS" is imparted with the help of user documentation together with the "Workshop Information System" (WIS) course. All the WIS functions are dealt with clearly and comprehensibly using text and illustrations. Fast access to individual chapters in this documentation is ensured by a clear list of contents. A comprehensive, alphabetically sorted index facilitates access to all important terms found in the text.

Its actually like workstatteninfosystem or some german word but it translates out to Workshop Information System.

There are a couple keepers of the WIS on this forum, you can buy it online for like $75-$125 or so but you might be able to sweet talk one of the guys who has it to burn you a copy. My good friend on this forum (who shall remain nameless due to the fact that I don't want to volunteer him to make copies for everyone) is making me a copy. It is DETAILED info on MB cars including instructions, measurements, and part #'s. A MUST HAVE for the "shade tree" mechanic.

I tried pulling codes again, some returned differently, so I revised my post.

#7 is Freon pressure. It looks like the system is out of Freon. When I start my car, without touching the gas, and turn on the AC, I see as high as 15. I see 8 with the car turned off. Your Freon pressure is one point four.

As for the WIS, anyone remember the 2006 "pay it forward WIS chain"? Everyone paying $20 for the WIS can thank the cheapskates from 2006.
