So I passed by a weigh station and decided I would see how much my new rims affected the weight of my vehicle. In the door jamb it says my car is supposed to weigh 4280 Lbs (not sure if this is with a full tank of gas or not but I assume it is without gas). You can imagine my amazement when I pulled onto the scale and got out of my car to have it read 4250 lbs, keep in mind I have 19" rims AND had a 3/4 tank of gas. I should also mention that I took out the spare in the trunk and I am not sure about the rest of you but my spare was a 17" AMG mono. My 19" rims weigh 27 lbs according to the manufacturer and upon searching the net I found that the AMG 17" monoblocks are 27.5 lbs front, 28lbs rear. the 19" AMGs are typically 30-31lbs each. WOW those monos are heavy.... So by pulling the spare out of the trunk you can pretty much drop close to 45-50 lbs depending on the tires you have.
Imagine if our cars weighed about 3010 LBS (the weight of an enzo)
but we would still only have less than half the power (302 hp < 651 hp although we are much closer in the torque department 302 lb·ft < 485 lb·ft) but I can only imagine shaving 1470 LBS would shave a second or 2 off our 1/4 mile times
Now if I could only find a way to make my entire body carbon fiber.........

My W208 CLK55 weighs 3450 with 1/2 tank fuel, tools and spare.

ODD INDEED!!!! It seemed HIGH to me as well but I just went out and double checked the door jamb and it states "GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) 1940 Kg 4280 Lbs" this coincides with the scale reading of 4250 Lbs.Originally Posted by Chappy

So I am confused..... I am going to snap a pic of the door jamb and post it. Maybe we can clear this up.
OK I AM AN IDIOT

Went out and snapped a pic and when I looked further it is the GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) not the GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) The GVWR is the maximum weight the car can hold not how much the car weighs.....
The scale was OFF significantly to say the least.... I know of another weigh station close by and I will try there in a couple days and repost the CORRECT weight.
