They are also not usually peak gains. Your peak gain may be 10 to 12 hp, but you may gain 20 hp at some point in the rev range.

I remember seeing the figures for Kleemann and Renntech m113 mods back in the day, and they were certainly not very cheap. I think the built NA Renntech motor cost around $15k, with more basic mods starting around 2-3k. I'd guess somewhat similar for Kleemann, though the blower kit is probably not as expensive as the Renntech 6.0.

Yeah, IIRC the kleeman S/C kit is over 3k without installation. I will post what I am quoted from my local kleeman dealer/installer, I am expecting a response tomorrow as I requested a price quote for parts + installation on all of the parts they had listed in the email they had sent me. I am toying with the idea of the S/C kit but depending on what they quote it might be cheaper to go with the 5.4L swap. I definitely want a LSD FOR SURE as well as the ECU tune, it appears the headers offer 20 HP gain and 30 ft/lbs TQ gain which isn't that much considering I am sure they are $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. I am leaning towards the S/C as the more I think about it the more of a headache the 5.4L will be as I will have to source the motor, have it rebuilt, pull my 4.3L, and then shoehorn in the 5.4L. Either way I am looking for 5 second (or less) 0-60 times and 1/4 miles times in the 13's, it would definitely bring a smile to my face.

If you take your time, you may very well find a 5.4L that does not need a rebuild for a decent price. Personally, this would be the route I would go, but of course a blower would be cool as well (or preferrably both )

I just wouldn't feel right without rebuilding the heart of my baby especially if it is out of the car already. There is something about the 5.4L that puts a smile on my face but at the same time that supercharger whine turns my head EVERY time. I am torn between the 2, I think if I had higher miles I would be leaning towards the 5.4L but with 111k on the dial my 4.3L still has ALOT of life in her. I do plan on swapping the 5.4L in when my 4.3L dies so maybe in the long run it would be better to go ahead and drop in the 5.4L now...... as you can see I am waffling between the two, decisions decisions Now that I think about it I could sell my 4.3L and get a little $$$ back so perhaps the 5.4L would be cheaper after the sale of my current engine

Fairly certain that Kleeman's 'LSD' is a Phantom Grip type unit, not a 'true' LSD. I was quoted about $1000 from the Canadian Kleeman distributor.

You could remove the diff and send it to Phantom Grip and they can do something up for you, and the cost is probably less than half of what Kleeman is asking.

If you really want those numbers and a track car to boot...get a 202 with a blown motor, gut it...put a LS based motor in there with a 6 speed and an Explorer rear end. 400 HP all day, never a trans woe, parts galore, Ubersleeper. Done and done!

Yes i imagine that would be quite a fun ride but I am looking to get some extra juice out of my C43 just to make my smile a little bigger when I punch it. Really if I was gonna make a track car I would get (dare I say it) an E36 M3 (OHH I SAID IT) but thats not waht I am after, just a little more oooomph for now. Eventually I plan on doing the 5.4L swap but not until my C43's heart stops ticking.

Still been researching this and I believe I have found the tune to go with. There is a ton of guys on the C63 forum that have a "eurocharged" tune and have had nothing but good things to say. I contacted Jerry from eurocharged (I am assuming he is the owner due to the fact that everybody talks about Jerry when they are talking about eurocharged) and he sent me this when I had asked about what gains I could expect and how muh the tune would cost:

"18whp 21wtrq. $499

Thanks

Jerry"

SHORT AND SWEET

From all the research I have done this seems to be about the most gain you are going to get for the cheapest price (at least from a reputable source). I have found others for a little cheaper ($350) but I have seen SEVERAL complaints about how they don't notice a difference, everyone who has gotten a eurocharged tune seems satisfied. Jerry got back to me at lightning speeds (and on a Sunday too!), the only downside is you have to send in your ECU. Everyone who had done it recommended you overnight it and they got it back within 2 days (i.e. sent it in on Wednesday and got it back Friday). This is the route I plan to go, it will have to wait until I finish my suspension but I will post results which should be in a month or so.

ummmm..... Don't think so.I reaserched this when I first Got my C43.AMG did there tuning and there is next nothing chip/ECU wise that's goin to change that. The car is maxed out....performance tuned. This isn't a mustang or charger thats all bottled up.I would go with headers first and then lighten up the car. Loose the spare tire and jack and loose 55 lbs, dump those 19's though they look nice, for sum nice n light 17's or 18"s. Loosing unsprung weight and less rolling resistance equals better acceleration and handling.SHORT OF THE 5.4 TRANSPLANT WE ARE ALL CLAMORING FOR OR A S/C,THATS ABOUT ALL.DONT waste your money!

I agree that the AMG is highly tuned but there is a little more HP that can be squeezed out of it as well as the 155 MPH limiter removed (not that I would ever got that fast). You need to take into account that there are different octane levels in different countries and even states, you can tune your ECU to adjust timing for certain octanes.

Here are some quotes off of another website talking about octane levels and ECU files"

"If you are on a stock ecu file 91 will be plenty for day to day driving and you can add better fuel when you will be running the car hard to keep the ecu from pulling timing when things get hot."

"I'm at the University hospital at Fitzsimons, near I-225 and I-70. Duggan's is way down in Englewood, off Sante Fe. I'm just trying to mix to get something close to 93 because I have a 93 file that I'm not able use safely with 91. "

You Guys in N. America seem to have problems obtaining decent octane gas We have 95RON as base stuff, with 98RON available in 95% of gas stations and even 100RON available in certain (Shell) stations but its expensive

But the US rate is a different scale system and 93 is acctually 98
and 91 is 95.

but its guys who have E85 that are lucky. tune on that and u should see some 20% more power.

May I suggest that prior to sending your ECU our for this tune that you go get your car dyno'd so you have a baseline to compare your "pre-tune" and "post-tune" ? I know Jerry is a highly respected turner around here but I've had a guy look into our ECU 'S and have been told there's not alot left in there to play with.Good luck on your quest and please post some dyno #'s.

Yup, that is the plan. That way I can have some actual RWHP numbers to compare. Either my loss will be a lesson for all OR everyone will be sending in their units either way we find what can actually be done. I wont be getting my ECU tuned for at least a month as I am still receiving/installing my suspension components which will be finished after I return from Ohio in a couple weeks. The numbers he had sent me were RWHP numbers and I will gladly pay $500 for 18 extra horses and 21 ft/lbs TQ at the rear wheel

Yup... here is what I was quoted on parts and labor from my local kleeman dealer/installer

Here are the estimated prices for you;

ECU; $1095 + $45 labor + $90 shipping (next day both ways, about 3days downtime as ECU has to go to Kleemann USA in CO) = $1230

Headers; $1495 + ~$630 in labor = ~$2125

Cams; $2290 + ~$792 in labor = ~$3082

Supercharger; $8995 + ~$5000 labor/extra parts = ~$14,000 (please keep in mind that an ECU Flash should accompany the s/c kit so if you go with the ECU Flash to begin with, then add the s/c, you’d be looking at a second $1095 ECU Flash charge).

LSD; $945 + ~$540 in labor = ~$1485

For this kind of money I could drop a HUGE down payment on a C63 and blow the doors off 95% of the rides out there

I am planning on keeping my C43 pretty close to stock as far as the engine goes. My plan is to do the suspension (Vogtland springs + bilstein sports + kmac camber kit), headers, ECU tune, and LSD. After that I am going to focus on a new paint job and then shes done.

Removing the speed limiter is useless. Why spend all that money to remove a 155mph speed limiter when you will NEVER approach that speed? The amount of hp/tq you will get with sending your ECU out to tune a STOCK motor is not going to yieid 18hp/21tq. NOT on an AMG N/A MOTOR! But hey it's your cash good luck and post your gains.

I bet he can gain at least 15hp and a hefty bump in the mid range (its here that ppl feel most of the improvment). we just have to w8 and see the dyno sheets.

Did you even do any of these mods and how did they turn out if so? I was wondering what a chip would do also but the whole "Amg maxes these engines out" makes sense too. However, a simple chip for the C32 does bring some good numbers and its amg also. Anyone ever done tried new pulleys? Who on the board has a moded C43 (engine wise)?
