C43 ECU tuning
So I have seen some incredible numbers claimed by ECU tunes. Has anyone done one and have a before and after dyno to prove it?? Kleeman is claiming some incredible numbers as well as speedinovation and powerchip. I am looking for someone to answer who actually has their ECU tuned not personal opinions or something someone read/heard somewhere.

Here goes, but it is in German. From the home page you find explanations in English. Looks like Hans Stuck, the tall guy is also involved in this company founded by ex BMW electronics engineers

From what I have read they have the timing retarded due to the various pump gas octane levels. I read a thread where a guy said you can change it using the star computer to 93 octane mode where it wont retard the timing, he said it was the most noticeable difference out of all the mods he had done. I am assuming these numbers are at the crank as well not the rear wheel.

1995 C 36 AMG; 1992 W124 300E (M103 Ex Mosselman TT KIT) was 320hp @10psi now stock :(
Guys 10% is what u can expect as max increase on the coldest most perfect conidtions, and prolly highest fuel octan rating you can get from the pumps.
in other words yes the reflash will get u atleast some 20 odd HPs on avrg and when the conditions are right the car can make the full 10%.
but usually its the midd range pull that really makes the diff.

I checked powerchip and they have one for $690 and they are claiming 27 HP and and 24 TQ gains with the 91 octane program. Does anyone have any experience with powerchip???
I located the ONLY renntech licensed dealer/installer in Oregon and they happen to be 15 minutes away from me (WHAT LUCK!!!). I tried contacting them today but had no success so I sent them an email and I am awaiting their response, I will keep you guys posted. Knowing renntech it will be an arm and a leg
My goal is to get around 350 HP (ECU tune, exhaust, perhaps intake, etc....) and I don't think that is too lofty of a goal. I just want to be able to HANG (maybe even pull a little ) with the E46 M3 on a straight away

Probably kind of a tall order on both counts. A stock C43 won't pull on an e36 M3, let alone an e46 (unless the driver money shifts of course ). Might be able to see that with the numbers you are shooting for, but a lot of s54's made better numbers out of the box than M advertised.

I found a company called speed tuning USA that does a tune for the C43, they are claiming 337 HP + 324 TQ for $325.
I found another company called speed innovation that claim 323 HP and 320 TQ but their website doesn't seem to work correctly and I am very wary of such things.....
I am still awaiting the reply from my local kleeman dealer/installer but I will keep you guys posted.
Whatever I do I will be running a dyno before and after to get some REAL WHP numbers, I will post them as soon as I get the tune but it wont be for a while as I plan on doing all the research I can before I spend my $$$$$$.

IMHO what really holds the C43 back is the transmission--see if you can find us an affordable 6 speed manual conversion while you are looking around. Keep us posted on the engine tuning!

Yeah a 350 HP C43 would walk away easily from an e36 M3. I agree with colt that the transmission is part of the culprit, as is being 3400#'s. Anyway, it will be interesting to see what you find. I'm fairly skeptical of some of those numbers, especially the ones that advertise 20-30 HP gains from nothing more than an ECU tune, but in general, your target should be doable......probably not for $300-400, but I'd think with ECU tune, bigger MAF (MAS? can't remember....more air anyway), bigger injectors, maybe cams, equal length headers, you could certainly be in that ballpark....maybe even more.

UPDATE:
I received a reply from my local kleeman dealer/installer and have posted the email below:
Thanks for the email. Since your C43 has the same M113 engine as a W208 CLK430, Kleemann ECU, headers, cams, supercharger, LSD, etc. are all available.
Let me know what you have your eye on and I can quote you on parts pricing.
I am going to get quotes on everything and will post what I find. I can only imagine it will ALL cost and arm and a leg but as I stated before nothing to too good for my baby as long as it is worth the $$$$$.
Has anyone heard anything about the kleeman LSD??? I am REALLY interested in losing the "one wheel peel".... Not sure who made the decision at AMG to allow open diffs, just ridiculous.
