There are several threads on this car on the e30 boards, but the glossy feature was just awesome to see! Unfortunately I don't have the spare 100k+ to spend on such an ambitious project
Yes 100k+ is correct..... but if you had it, it would be worth it. SUCH A SLEEPER, even though it has the M3 badge who can guess it has the V10 under the hood I wish I could own something like that just to see the look on peoples faces when I peel their paint in a CLASSIC E30. Seriously, you would be smoking the majority of ferraris, porsches, vettes, and (unfortunately) AMG's out there. I just want to see the look on the guys face who thinks you have a $20k or less car as you kill his $250k Italian steed with EASE...... To me that would be worth the $100k alone

Yeah, the ownage wouldn't even be funny in that car. As it is, I think the majority of folks think this is just some old beater 3 series, judging by the daily stoplight racers I encounter.....mostly Altimas, civics, even a Rav4 last night. Little do they know this car puts the smack down on e46 M3's like it was its job Kind of fun interacting with more enthusiasts though, who generally didn't look twice at the C43 (though I think the w202 AMG is every bit as much of an enthusiast car). Had an STI subbie pass by my today with passenger snapping photos of my car out the window. Nice STI wagon BTW.

I died at the list of clowns that tried to race you. The Rav4 has to be the most classic, I thought is was bad when the miata tried to race me at a stop light. I will admit the miata and my C43 were neck and neck for about 1/2 a second before I blew his doors off . I can only imagine the destruction the Rav4 got . I wish I could of seen it . Please keep us posted on any E46 encounters you have as I am sure the stories will all be instant CLASSICS

I think the kids in the rav4 got the laugh of their lives, when after stop sign #4 I finally decided to give it a little juice. I think my exhaust and just simply rowing through the gears makes everyone think I'm trying to race. Normally I am just barely touching the loud pedal. Gas receipt shows too.....31 mpg....lol WTF?

Just meanderings whilst wishing I was outside on a Friday instead of in the office...thinking of BMWs and engine swaps, and an offhand comment on another post about "rev-hungry 4 bangers" made me think a bit...I remember seeing an E36 from Japan with an F20C (S2000 engine) stuffed into it. Thought it kind of odd.

I wonder if anyone ever thought about transplanting an F20C into an E30 or E30 M3? I suggest so just because I suspect there must be some BMW purists out there who would scoff at the thought of a 6-cylinder E30 M3. The F20C combines plenty of racing bred attributes that would be fitting in the ethos of the E30 M3, and I suspect a damn sight cheaper than a 9000rpm S14 build up. I dunno much about the 6-cylinder M engines, but if memory serves, the E46 M3 still had an iron block, as there was much fanfare about how the all aluminum V8 in the E90 M3s is lighter. Thus certainly an F20C would be lighter than the iron block 6?

But then I guess the BMW purists would scoff at a Honda powering an M-division gem, and then they go back to the BMW parts bin with a 6 cylinder swap.

And because it was mentioned, here's a link to the V10 swap'd E30 M3:

Just curious though, did the E30 M3's come with 5-stud wheels from the factory? I had an E30 325i and they only had 4-stud wheels that is why I could not upgrade the wheels to newer OEM BMW wheels such as E36's or E46's. Thanks!

Yep, 5 lug from the factory. These days, doing a 5 lug conversion on the older 4 lug cars is pretty common to avoid the problems you had. Not sure how straightforward this, as it didn't apply to my car, but it's a good mod for sure!

Now, I realize that E30 M3's come by 5x120 wheels from the factory while stocks were 4x100. Thanks for the info FLYNAVY!

everytime i see one, it reminds me of how sad someone junked an e30 m3 for the cash-for-clunkers program

i wonder if that e30 m3 wagon was in sweden, all those volvos in the background, and the swedes luv them "estates"...

unless it was a v6 rav4, those aren't too shabby, only about half a sec slower to 60..

Wow, that would have been a sorry thing to see! As for the rav4, at 6.3 sec (the factory spec I saw), probably a little over a second slower than mine. Still, pretty quick I suppose for such an unassuming car.
