sunroof buggyness

everything worked fine and then all of a sudden the sunroof will only tilt up; it wont go back down. I used a torxhead in the little spot under the dome lights to manually crank it back down then started cranking it to slide it back (open) and the more it went back the harder I had to turn it until it was most of the way slid back and I couldn't turn it anymore by hand. But then when I pulled back the switch the motor opened it the rest of the way open, and was able to close the sunroof again until it was closed all the way. But now it wont slide back again. Has anyone worked with the sunroof mechanism and might know what is causing this buggyness? the motor works fine but the fact that the position of the sunroof effects whether or not the motor can move it and in which directions makes me think that maybe something is getting jammed up in the motors attachment to the sunroof. The switch might be a culprit too, the drivers side one of the two dome light switches sometimes stops working.

Have you tried to re-sync it? Here is a post I found about re-syncing the sunroof:

All you have to do is re-synchronize the sunroof. Run it all the way back, you may have to click it several times to get it all the way back, then press and hold the switch in the up position like you would be opening it to vent until it starts to move. This will close the sunroof and then raise it to the vent position. Continue to hold the switch for about 3 seconds afterwards, you will hear a click sound which is confirming it is synchronized. Also when you are holding the switch, some are 2 position switches. If this is the case, only press it to the first position.

By the way, this also works for the windows if your window ever stops working on the one touch mode.

It's in the shop atm because a flex joint on the driveshaft busted. I'll try it as soon as I get the car back.
