Trannsmision issues!

My C43 is lagging on the shift. It holds the gear for a couple of extra seconds before it shifts. I have been driving around in "W" so it will start in 2nd but lags on the shift to third. This morning it did it from 4th to 5th. I tried to manually shift when I noticed it and it shifted like normal. I've noticed it is more apt to have the shifting issue when the engine temp is lower than normal operating temp, after the car warms up it seems to not have the issue. Anyone else had this problem? Please don't tell me my tranny is going out!

I wouldn't worry too much, for the moment at least. When the box is cold it does tend to shift a tad sluggishly until temp rises. Have you checked the ATF level to be on the safe side? No leaks? Try using the S position for a while and see if it "learns" better manners.

22 X3, 21 330e, 97 M3, 97 C36 (sold), but on the hunt for a clean, low-mile C43!
Yeah, I noticed that my newly acquired C36 does the same thing when cold. It tends to hold in the lowest gear (in my case, 2nd cuz I drive in W mode) for a while. Once it warms up, it finally starts upshifting normally.

You need to drive it aggressively for some time so it gets used to faster shifting

Either that or you are having bad missfires. Have your wires and plugs been replaced recently?

I hate how these transmissions change so often. It doesn't take it much to go from fast shifting to being lazy.

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
Don't use W

it is for winter driving or poor traction conditions

The cats warm up on the M113 engine in under two minutes so it should not be holding gears for much after that.
Have you changed your trans fluid and filter with mb spec fluid?
Easy diy and measured correctly
Needs to be done.
Do the tcu reset and see if that firms up the issue.

I think you guys are right about the cold start... I had my tranny serviced by MB a couple months ago as well installed new plugs and wires so it can't be those issues. It hasn't done it the past couple days so I am going to chalk it up to needing to warm up more.
