Are the bulbs under our D2R's (C43 HID's) city lights or the headlight fogs?? When doing my HID fogs and 55w HID conversion this weekend, I noticed that there were H1's (seem to be over-kill for city lights) under the D2R's but wasn't able to get them working...any special trick to this? (yes, the bulbs are good -haha)

Pretty sure that is the foglight in the headlight. I don't know if they work or not but I assume they do not as I believe our knob is wired to the apron fogs. This is why we can turn on only the apron fogs without the rear fog unlike the C36's.

That's kind of what I was figuring, just a little confused why they'd be wired up with bulbs and all and not work... hmm..

I guess so. Everything seems to be wired up and ready to go but the lower lights don't turn on, only the apron fogs...

Well, at least now you know you've got a spare set in case your apron foglight bulbs burn out, lol.

For C36: The in-headlight fogs and the apron fogs (first pull and second pull on the headlight knob, respectively) are both H3 bulbs. The apron ones are in a "sealed" housing (a.k.a you have to open the rubber gasket to get to them) and the headlight ones are just sitting in the inside corners of the headlight housings behind the cover. At least, that is how it is all set up on my 95'.
I love how there are such advanced topics like swapping 43 to 55 engines, suspension geometrics, and all sorts of other confusing and sophisticated topics on this forum but so much confusion over the differences in lighting between the 36 and 43

Hmm...the owner's manual in my 97 C36 states that the foglight bulbs are H1, although it doesn't specify whether these are for the in-headlight fogs or the apron fogs. Maybe the bulb type changed over the model years, or my owner manual is wrong?

But anyway, I'll go actually pull the bulbs out myself and confirm (probably should have just done this first before starting this thread ).
