connecting plus/minus terminal to battery?

connecting plus/minus terminal to battery?
I have removed my battery to charge it at home.
yesterday I put it back in my car.
I put the positive (+) first and then negative (-).
when I put the negative on it came in contact with the negative nipple from the battery.
It gave me a small spark and a burned smell.
I guess the ground castshue is a little tight when placing it on the negative steel nipple.
how do I make the negative castshue a little wider so it will be easier to put it on the steel nipple?
this spark that comes when placing negative shue on the battery is giving a shortcircuit to my car.
Is this bad for the electronics?
I need to make the negative groundshue more open and easier to place ontop of the steel nipple.

You'll get a little arc as you place the negative on because you are completing the circuit. It won't fry anything. If you need to open up the connector a bit, it is made out of lead and should be pretty soft, so just use a flat head screw driver.

thanx for letting me know.
I tried to open up the shue with some pliers, but didn't manage that!
I guess it was to cold (minus degrees) and the leadshue got stiffer, therefore I couldn't expand the shue?
If I use the flat screwdriver and place it between the divided part where the bolt goes and trying to expand it, does it work this way to get the shue a little more open and not so tight?
I'm glad these small welding arcs, when putting the negative on the battery doesn't fry my electronics to death!
I got worried!
This is normal getting a small arc when putting the negative on the battery?

No problem Kowalski and stop worrying for a little spark, except if you have some gas in the boot (big boom)

If the earth cable plug is difficult to get on the battery terminal, just tap it on gently lightly with a rubber or plastic headed hammer. Don't fear making any damage as long as you don't hit too hard.

Always remove the negative terminal first and connect last.
If you remove the negative first and accidentally touch the chassis with the wrench nothing will happen, the other way around by removing positive first and you touch the chassis with the wrench , big spark and you might melt the wrench

is it easy to crack the internal connection of the battery if I touch the steel nipple with the negative shue?

Yep that's the spreader, you might damage the battery if your trying to tap the connector unto the terminal post of the battery to make it go on all the way .

the connctor shue goes to the bottom end of the battery housing.
then I will tighten the nut.
how can the battery go bad if make it go on all the way?
do you mean if I force the connector shue on the negative nipple?
