Badges?

So some of you may have read about my car getting hit about 3 weeks ago, but i just picked it up the other day from my neighbor doing the body work and it looks great, but he said he would buff it in a week so he didnt put the trunk emblems back on, i kind of like the clean look, but i like the C43 AMG badge at the same time because is so rare, do you guys think i should put them back on or keep them off?

I'd would say put them back on. There are only a few C43s around and removing them would make your car look like an ordinary W202.

Leave it on, I'm a stickler for debadging and cleanliness but you should be proud to have that C43 on there. So many poser AMG's the 43 makes it legit in traffic to fellow enthusiasts.

Keep them. Not many people even know the W202 had an AMG model, its your job to inform them.

22 X3, 21 330e, 97 M3, 97 C36 (sold), but on the hunt for a clean, low-mile C43!
So did you end up picking up those chrome monoblocks from that guy on this forum? If so, let's see some pics!

That is a really good weapon of choice. From a roll, I don't think there is much any stock bimmer can do to a C63...

I didn't put the badges back on when I had to get a new boot lid, figured the best time to find out if I like the debadged look would be when it has no badge marks. Still got the badges if I change my mind but I really like it debadged. Gives it a sleeper look.

Now by tracks you mean hair weave right? Because I have tried those and it didn't work out so well for me!

Side not: really did try this once for Halloween. Not a good look for me! lol

Mine is also debadged. It seems that most sold in this country choose the debadged option so as to remain unnoticed and discrete. That is true until you floor the accelerator

This subject has been brought up in the past... IMO you should put the badges back on, so many people out there are DYING to have the AMG on the back of their cars (even hondas!!!) and you actually HAVE an AMG. Be proud and display your cars heritage . That's my 2 cents....

Looks very clean indeed. You do still get the idea with the smoked tails... But as the last post just read, I have been waiting to own an AMG all my life and now I do! I think ill keep the badge around for a least the first few years.

This is the truth. +100.

There, imo, is no such thing as a "sleeper" with the W202 body style. Lets sit for a moment and think, debadging a genuine AMG vehicle is really a pointless endeavor....what is honestly cleaner than a stock AMG? Show it off!!! So few exist, even more-so for the C36's. Considering that, if you are afraid to get picked on in an AMG...then don't drive it! The ownership of these vehicles goes way beyond some punk in a bran-new bimmer trying to race you, just laugh, sit back and enjoy those heated leather seats....in a car that is actually an honor to own! Can't we all agree on that?

eclectic assortment of cars
I think I read somewhere that debadging from new is quite common amongst European owners. North Americans are more into their bling.

That said, I've noticed lately that Euro spec W202 AMGs all seem to have side markers (legislative requirement I guess) but also 'Sport' badges on the fenders too. I dig the side markers, I wish I had them. Not 100% enamored with the Sport badges myself though. I toyed with the idea of debadging the 'C43' and 'AMG' only...but after the car got fixed from the rear ender in the summer, the body shop put on all brand new badges on the trunk, so I guess they're staying for now.

My old Saab was partially debadged from the factory. The SPG models just had the Saab roundel and 'Saab' badge. All other 900 Turbos had '900' and 'Turbo' on the trunk, and then 'Turbo' on the sides of the hood. Debadging is generally cleaner, I think, but the C43 is pretty subtle to begin with. I did a partial debadge on my S2000 - the front bumper is now shaved, no badge, holes filled in. I've asked my wife for a JDM red Honda 'H' for the trunk for Christmas though!

I was wondering about the side markers and the "sport" badge as my C43 doesn't have either. So the "sport" badge is a euro thing?

The side markers with yellow bulbs are mandatory I believe as per European legislation. You can have them smoked if you like. However, if you go for the markers in the mirrors option the wing markers can be deleted. I also have the Sport badge on the side. When I got the car I wanted to take it off, but the Missus talked me out of it.
