Kleemann stuff for C43
So I got a hold of Cory from Kleemann regarding Kleemann items still offered for the C43 as well as the power gains that they claim. Below is a list of items that are still offered for the C43 as well as the price and gains:
ECU programming: $1095.00 +15 HP/TQ
Supercharger system: $8995.00 430 HP, 430 TQ
Cams: $2295.00 +17-20 HP/TQ
Headers $1495.00 (includes down pipes) 20 HP
Here is a pic he sent me of the headers:
These prices are directly from Kleemann.
I copied a piece of the email and posted it below:
"We also do limited slip differentials ($945.00), and big brake kits as well. KLEEMANN has never made air boxes, or intake systems, so nothing on that front (I've never seen an airbox pick up power on those cars anyway). Of course, we have wheels, leather interiors, etc. as well."

After I install my suspension it is onto the exhaust and I will definitely be picking up a set of these headers.

That's not too bad of pricing for headers. The expensive ones available from Japanese tuning houses (Amuse, Toda, J's Racing, etc) for S2000s are in that range - with half the material!

Saab, thanks for having looked into this So it seems the C43 is not yet totally forgotten

I was thinking the same thing. The long tube headers for the C63 are going for $2500 +

Ditto...not worth the money, even the blower. All those parts minus the blower give virtually no benefit HP/COST ratio.I love my 43 and intend to keep it but if you want to mod a amg buy a more current model, they are cheap as heck nowadays and you are NOT limited to perf upgrades.Keep your car tuned well throw on a muffler/delete 2nd cats and resonator can be done cheap, pick up a nice beastly sound! Lower it to improve looks/handling and throw on a set of staggered 18'' monoblocks and your set. Our cars will keep up with MANY machines out there, you would be suprised!

Only thing on that list I would consider is the headers. I talked to them a month ago and it is rwhp on the headers, plus res delete and 2nd cats. You would really feel a difference and hear it too!

But yeah. thats a high 4 digit figure you gotta cough up. And then you have to make sure the engine is running solid so you don't blow something. Installing a blower also has some of the highest risks for various problems.
I am also highly surprised that Cams will only net +20hp (ill consider it bhp until proven otherwise). Either they didn't work hard enough to pull max potential out of aftermarket cams, or the c43 stock cams are pretty damn good to begin with. You throw cams on an american or japanese car? that's easily a good 15-20% of their BHP added right on. 20bhp/302bhp = 6.6% gain. so idk. For argument's sake, lets say it's 20whp: that means 25bhp/302bhp = 8.2% gain. and only that much for $2,300? lulz

Well, to be fair, i think the blower might be potentially the best bet out of all those mods, if I were to pick one. Sure, it's the most expensive, but it gives the mots bang for its buck too, as well as EXTRA tuning capabilities. Dyno tune anyone? 130 brake horsepower, with extra tuning potential (at additional cost, ofc)? i could easily see another 30-50bhp from that. so 302+130+40 = 472bhp x .80 (20% drivetrain loss) = 377 to the wheels. That's something that can be ALOT of fun. ;] Maybe i'm overexaggerating the numbers a little, but you get the point.

i know it says added together 472, but i have never seen it actually work out. It always seems that one part a lone will get its numbers but as you add them together they drop.

I really need an LSD with my SC! I wonder how much lockup they have..? $945 might not be a bad price, depending.

I am fairly certain the Kleeman 'LSD' is actually a Phantom Grip, or Phantom Grip type, unit, and not a 'true' LSD.
In that regard, there is 'Mercedes tax', 'AMG tax' AND 'Kleeman tax' on that price!

+1 The only true LSD for our cars is made by taking the 190e 16v rear and adding the parts to our pumpkin...

I am actually considering the headers, 2nd cat/resonator delete.Damn and with the eisenmann race muffler it would be beastly.....sick........! Lets see that would be say around 3k installed ready to go... It is a diffucult decision for me as i am back n forth over upgrading to a c55 or an e55.

C43 AMG 5.5 - 396.4HP
The LSD has 60% lock, but it isn't a complete diff but a part to modify stock lsd. But I wonder if it will fit into the C43 diff. On the Kleemann website it is written, it will fit into 'big housing' only and you can not select W202.

wow, that's pretty good lock up! The M only had ~40% but still did just fine and could handle just about everything thrown at it.

I have found a company called drexler that will make you a custom LSD for the C43 (not cheap though). I had posted about it a while ago... I will see if I still have the email when I get home.

It is expensive but not only would it look good but it will sound GREAT!!! It will give you a nice little bit of a extra power as well but I am more going for the look and sound of it. I will be buying an E55 as well but not for another year or 2 so in the mean time (as soon as I get my tax return) I am going to do the Kleemann headers with SS piping (all mandrel bends) with an X pipe back to the Eisenmann muffler, with that set up I should have one of the best sounding C43's out there I have been on the fence about the eisenmann as the tone isn't as refined as the AMG muffler but I have decided to go with it. My buddy has the eisenmann muffler (all he did was replace the AMG muffler) and it sounds CRAZY, I'm betting with the Kleemann headers + X pipe it should produce eargasims. I will be doing a dyno before and after and will be sure to post the results.
What AMG does your buddy have? I haven't seen any vids on youtube with Eisenmann Race on a C43..just standard 202's. I'd like to hear one!

He's got a C43 . I'll see if I can meetup with him soon and get a vid of it. It sounds like a race car, I really like the sound of the AMG muffler as it is more refined yet still mean. The eisenmann is kinda raspy but VICIOUS sounding

I say headers and customer exhaust for sure. Yes, it would end up being 3k but you don't have to do it all at once. I am planning on dropping the 2nd cats first and enjoying the new sound for a few month to a year and then looking into the headers 2nd, enjoying those for a few months to a year, then 3rd maybe a used Renntech airbox and pretending this makes difference, enjoy la la land for a few months to a year, then ECU tuning for all of this, enjoying that for a year and then so on and so forth. It is a lot of money but spread it out and enjoy your car! All while building up to my 200k+ miles when I look into a M113 55 swap.

Oh nice, that'd be awesome if you could post something up! I just can't hear my exhaust over the whine so I'd like to have something I can hear...and others can truly hear as well.
