My C43 pics
just thought I would post some pics of my '99 C43 - she just hit 90,000 miles so I thought I would celebrate with some pics!

Nice jeep you've got buddy
, when you gonna drop your car?
just kiddin' car looks lovely.
I notice you have the factory alarm set up, do you have any motion sensors on your B-pillars?
Left side rear door I notice you have the pressmark on your leather backrest.
I have this too on my left side!
Normal sheeeeeeeeeet on most C43's with this pressmark, but looks tacky on a mid sized luxury car.

Shes a looker. I think this has more ground clearance that my old grand Cherokee. Ha. Your looking at a new set of shock and springs soon anyway. You should be needing them anywhere from now to 110k miles. You planning on keeping her for the long haul or selling and trading up?

yes one of the few I've seen with the all black - guess that's a good thing - I like it anyhow. The suspension is amazingly in good shape - I was lucky and picked this car up at an estate with only 77K on it - original owner - he and his wife no kids and the carfax verified everything. The guys wife had the original sticker and every service in chronological order - outstanding condition.
I would like to keep it as stock as possible, it seems that there are fewer and fewer left that way and I don't mind the look of it the way it is - rides like a mercedes big sedan on the highway and I like that comfort. I plan on keeping it - I'll be picking up a new daily driver in 9 months when my brothers 2009 S550 w/AMG package (not an AMG!) goes off lease - his residual is $38K and it will have 23,000 miles on it - it's a sweet ride and that's a pretty score deal on a car that stickered for $95K! Anyhow - maybe I'll drop it a little bit someday, like the eurospec C43's but for now...it's a jeep haha

As long as your happy! Im glad you're keeping it original rather than modifying things. It is a tad high though and its funny because mine has the stock suspension still and doesnt appear Jeep looking.

I was sitting on a curb when I took it - so maybe that's why - Here's another angle of it...
there's another C43 here in town that I parked next to one time - same height from what I could tell, I do sometimes wish it were just a little lower - but I hate to start messing with it - don't have the time really ...

well I can't get a fist in between the tire and fender, but it's higher than most C43's on here! ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
All this talk of my car being a jeep had her feeling down on herself, so I hit a backroad that is cop free today for a little speed run - 145 mph before I decided I should call it good - she just purrs man! Love that V8 howlin like that!
503 - these are great cars man, just awesome! Nice that we are getting a break with the weather here in the NW!

Here my run, things got scary for me post 140mph. That's why I had to shut down but this road has slight rolling hills to it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ou5DIxVJDc
Make sure you extend the CPO warranty or go for a nice after market warranty on that S-Class. Sweet ride!

145 is shut down time for sure. Without the car being lowered, I would have shut down before that, the stock aerodynamics don't support the higher speed and with your car being that high off the ground, im sure you were catching some major air and front end float at that speed??? I really want to find a good front lip for this car that will nail it to the ground at higher speeds.

no issues at speed - rides really steady, settles down quite a bit - I used to have an Audi a4 3.0 v6 - 2002 that I would get up there on the backroads and a somewhat similar feel - they just kinda 'squat' down. Now feels nothing like my bro' Lambo LP 560-4 at 150 haha that thing feels like you're doing 75 at 150 crazy. Really no issues though, I figure it was designed to run around on the autobahn so should be no issues really - driver error being far more likely than anything on the vehicle. ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
And yes, that S Class is a sweet ride - I get to drive it around when I'm down there visiting - my sis in law is taking good care of it for me! I'm actually moving down to So Cal in the next three months - got a job back in the medical field for a company in Pasadena that I couldn't refuse - so back to Cali I go. Will be fun to have some great roads to cruise on - looking forward to it - when are you in M Beach?

When ever the DOD decides to get off their A$$ and move us out there. We should know something before march and hope to be out there by the end of this summer. ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
As far as going those speeds with no issues- this just furthers my need to replace my entire front drag link and swap in CLK bushings. I guess ill have to try it out again after that.

It feels like a boat floating up n down left to rite in these speeds.
Maybe it's because I didn't do an alignment when I put my new Brabus 18 inch rims on my car, the alignment is set for the stock 17'ns
I notice with my hawk vision you've got a nasty scratch mark over your clear window cluster.
Is it a scratch?
Just to replace the front plastic isn't cheap I guess!

I'll be taking my car in to be aligned after the drag-link and tie rod install. Ill let you know if this floating and bobbing goes away. Its caused me to almost pi$$ myself when I was driving.

I have also a tiny scratch on my cluster.
This plastic is very sensitive to scratches, so be careful when you vaccum your car and don't slip with the nozzle.

AH - it will help - I've had most of the front end parts replaced when I got it - I figured 10 year old car no matter how well cared for was going to have parts that would be falling apart or crumbling - especially any rubber / plastic type parts. Tie rod ends and the like - made a huge difference - also had the steering box tightened up as well - I had some play in the steering and a friend said they can be adjusted, got it back and it was way better - little to no play and just felt solid. Alignment made a big difference as well - tracks straight and feels strong.
Cool about your M Beach move, fun town you'll have a good time man!
