I'm looking into getting a C43. And was wondering if there's a list of the most common maintenance items.

Use to own an E39 M5, and there was a nice list of known things that had to be replaced at certain mileage. Figured I'd ask the same about the C43.

The C43 is a pretty solid car only real concern is with the transmissions, the motor is pretty much bullet proof. Usual maintenance and up keep is to be expected as with any car (i.e timing chain, MAF plugs, etc.) the brakes can be kind of spendy but members here have found much cheaper alternatives. I have owned my C43 for 10 months now and did a tune up (MAF, Plugs, wires, etc...) right when I bought the car, up to this point I have been problem free (KNOCK ON WOOD). Really you get more than you pay for with the C43 depending on where you live and by that I mean the C43 is a great car and in some areas you can pick them up CHEAP. Basically I would question the current owner about the transmission and do a good inspection of the vehicle, depending on where you are or where the car is from the car could have rust which is not uncommon with the C43.

Here's the CLK430 maintenance schedule. The C43 should be about the same. Many people skip all the checks and then wonder why some thngs "break without warning".

In addition, you'll want to lube the wiper occasionally, and have the transmission fluid changed. Lastly, few people tighten the steering gear bolts . It's listed, but people tend to ignore it until they hear an "odd noise".
