My modified exhaust system

Hey guys,
BY ACCIDENT I´VE ERASED MY WHOLE PREVIOUS MESSAGE....
that totally pissed my off
so would you mind just reposting or rather to reanswer on this thread for the second time...appreciate it

ok, here we go again:

the first pic shows the original c43 muffler.

this one shows the muffler i have on my car right now. it´s half the size than the original one (first pic).

i used to have another cat but it wasn´t working, that´s why i flexed it open and cleaned it out.

and that´s how it looks after being welded back together.

i've also attached two sound files.
if you have good speakers on your pc, the sound will turn out good.
on my laptop the sound unfortunately comes over poorly.

i´ve just uploaded the soundfiles today,so hopefully they have already put them online.

ok that's it for so far.
I'll keep you guys up to date.
As mentioned before this is all still experimental.
the best sounds and I speak out of my personal experience, you get only directly from the final pot.

by the way, sorry about the size of the attached photos.....

Regards
Jens

I said in the first deleted thread that you had a good solution. Your second video gave the impression that there was a steam engine around. I also asked you where you were in D?? Ludwigsburg and I see that Affalterbach is also under LB! Also, do you know if at the time it was possible to get special sports exhaust manifolds. Looks like they are impossible to find today. Do you know if AMG made any and who did perhaps?

could you give more info on your navigation system/screen? Where did you get it from? How did you install it?

So looking at the the empty cat it seems as if the inlet/exhaust hole I.D. within the cat is much less than our exhaust's 2.75in...not good

I missed that picture with the restriction in the pipe diameter It does look like some serious constriction in the flow. Why keep the secondary cats if they are emptied, apart from the need to not raise suspicion in case of TUV inspection in Germany (like here in Switzerland). I'm deleting the secondary cats all together with the resonator. I will see when the car has to pass its technical inspection every two years. It seems better to have a straight pipe(s) in same overall diameter I imagine, no?

Primary or secondary are both going to negativly effect performance about the same most likely due to this hole. Lowering the cell count from 400ish down to 200cel cats makes sense but probably does little good not to replace all four as one set will still have this restriction probably beyond its cell count. It only needs one of those smaller holes downstream to cause the restriction in the system. In other words my secondary cars are replaced with 3in race cats but due to my OEM primary cats being in place it makes little to no difference. Same would apply if I replace only my primary and not secondary. I bet this is a huge area of power gains for any of the header designs that utilize a cat-less downpipe.

Wish the primary cats were as easy to swap out as the secondarys....

I just can't believe MB pushes that much exhaust through four of these, packed tight with media as well

I WISH we had something and an option like this as it could get our 43's breathing big time : https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...sane-deal.html They are really lucky b***s, and yes I know its impossible as there is not much place under our hoods due to antique steering box

Inlet/outlet is 60mm pipe that should be around 2,5''.
