SLS Fun facts
I stopped by the dealership today to pick up some spring pads, this is not the dealership by my house but rather the newest MB dealership in Oregon which always has all of the coolest MB toys. I was hoping to see an SLS but alas they had just sold it a month prior and are waiting for their new one to arrive. When I was back at the parts counter this kid walks up to help me and it turns out it is the younger brother of an old friend of mine. We start talking for a little bit as he is ringing me up and I ask about the SLS, after he rings me up and I pay (SUPER DISCOUNT BY THE WAY 50% OFF!!!!) I ask him to look up some parts for the SLS to see if we can find how much some of the parts are. Get ready for this:
Rotors for the SLS = $9,000 A PIECE!!! (makes the C43 rotors look CHEAP!!)
Brake pads for the SLS = $7,000 FOR A SET!!!!
Then we stumbled across some parts for a different model of SLS, the SLS GT3. The sticker price of the BONE stock SLS is $180,000 (I'm sure they sell for more than this but that is the listed sticker price at the MB dealership) start adding options and you quickly get into the $200k range. The stock SLS GT3 has a $400,000 sticker price!!!!

Are those brake prices for the optional carbon ceramic brakes, or the standard iron discs?
Racing versions always cost more than the road going brethren, so it's not surprising to see the price jump. So you don't get a lot of creature comforts, and you can't even drive the thing on the road, and you probably need an engine rebuild after x number of hours.
But I suspect in this case you would get the FIA papers for competition purposes and of course all the necessary safety gear and uprated competition spec components. And I'm guessing you can't just walk in and buy a SLS GT3 either, you probably need to show some racing credentials, or maybe they just supply them to private race teams.
