Driving school :)

Looks like I found something else to spend my hard earned $$$ on:

http://www.prodrive.net/racing_school.shtml

I can track my C43 AND drive this "SPEC RACER FORD". Looks like I will need some new rims and tires

When summer finally rolls around, I plan on tracking my C43.

Laguna Seca should be interesting.

Good choice and an excellent way to enjoy the performance of your car (and others). One recommendation though. Don't go overboard too soon, just learn and put to practice what you learn. Feel your car through the seat of your pants and in your hands.

I have been toying with the idea of attending the AMG driving academy, unfortunately there isn't one close to me so I would need to take some vacation to do it. Looks like it will have to wait but until then I can attend the driving school at PIR

A driving school is the best bang for the $$$$ to make your car go faster around a track AND makes you a far better daily driver. I say go for it...find a school that can meet your goals. There are plenty of schools out there.

im going to run some laps at a charity event on VIR on april 1. I am so lucky, bc VIR is an awesome track altho i would kill to drive down the corkscrew at laguna seca. Best advice i can give you is if u shell out the money to go to driving school, make sure it is SCCA accredited.

i think after 3 sessions you can pay a little more, get a physical, join the scca and race for real.

If you're going to the Driving Academy, do yourself a BIG favor and join MBCA. Based on last year’s pricing, a $45 MBCA membership knocks $300 off the one day course at the Academy, $600 off the two day, and TWO THOUSAND NINETY-FIVE DOLLARS off the three day course. That's in addition to all the other MBCA benefits.

You have details for the VIR event? I might go if I have some spare cash saved up.

Here is the link

http://www.rmhcofnc.org/page/vir-event

Its a charity event for Ronald McDonald House. They are just asking for a $25 donation, so a very worthy cause.
I believe it will be run on North course rather than Full course. North course is slightly shorter but still VERY fun (I will be running North course that Saturday and Sunday and really looking forward to it!)

That is true. And the speeds will almost certainly be very modest. Nevertheless, it still gives you some sense of what it is like to drive on a race track - and its not nearly as easy as most people think!

Best thing about driving school is learning how to use bakes to go faster!
Then, you will want to upgrade your brakes! haha

I ran across this and my jaw dropped:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKCOoZKFa1Q

$199 for 5 laps seems steep but if it is behind the wheel of a Ferrari or Lambo I think I can justify the price

Those are fun, I got to drive a retired cup car around Texas Motor Speedway and 10 laps was $250, but it was for charity. The only bad part was the governor was set at 155mph.
