unwinterized- overheating, heat blows cold, air bubbles?
Seems that it running the heat with the coolant system open and letting the bubbles work their way out isn't doing it.
Is the coolant even cycling through the whole system? Can this be a thermostat issue?
I replaced the thermostat about 3 years back.

Then as it unsticks a bit would it add more air bubbles, drink more of the coolant down etc. and 'cause mayhem?
I spent some time with it yesterday and got an improvement, but it's still not perfect.
Is there a trick to adding coolant to these cars without getting air bubbles? I've tried all the normal stuff- perhaps this valve is partly to blame.
I'm just glad it's not a wrecked water pump (it seems), or a blown head gasket (it seems) or a bunch of other things.

I've managed to get it to the point of working now- but it still "burps" some air every once in a while (engine temp needle bounces and/or sounds from that location in dash)
That said- It's not overheating now and it's totally "summerized". Got to go out for a bit of a spirited drive yesterday... soooo much fun! Now just plan to do the front brakes and add a factory bike rack then drive her a bunch this year!
